which builds literacy, I was reminded that people are really giving. I'll never change my habit of saying yes. I believe it is important to find time to share some energy with someone or something else." -- O -- The Oprah Magazine
In honor of Miss Giovanni's dedication to LEAP's mission, the co-founders of LEAP, Kwame Alexander & Tracy Chiles McGhee
are proud to announce the Nikki Giovanni LEAP Scholarship Fund
Monies raised will support the Achievers Class 2014
of Timber Junction, Konko Village, whose mantra is "Together we stand, divided we fall."
This brilliant class of 12 scholars must overcome astronomical challenges to further their education beyond junior high school. In Ghana, all high schools cost to attend. The average tuition is $1000. We are seeking to raise $1500 per student
which will cover the annual tuition, fees, and housing expenses.
When LEAP returns to the village this August 2014
with Miss Giovanni
and a team of educators, artists, and activists, we can present the class with the financial resources they need with your generous support!ACHEIVERS CLASS 2014 ~ OUR FUTURE LEADERS"I want to be a medical doctor because I want my community to be healthy." - Prince"I want to be a lawyer to fight for justice and to defend and advocate for the needy." - Elizabeth"I want to have a catering business which would specialize in using local foods for continental dishes." - Rosemond"I want to be a teacher to help impart knowledge to people in the village." - Prince"I want to be a police officer to reduce corruption and protect my nation." - Isaac
