Libby's Cruiser is almost complete and the Chattanooga Valley Lions Club will be selling tickets for a chance to win it. Take a look at the pictures...
The fundraising effort has slowed recently and in order to inject some new life we are in the process of "tricking out" Libby's 1997 Toyota Landcruiser to make it look similar to the photograph shown here. We are in the process of trying to get some items donated and as soon as we get everything in, we will start the build and I will keep everyone updated on the progress.
When completed, we plan to either auction, sell or raffle the vehicle to raise the most money we can for the playground.
More donations have been coming in and we are working on a deal with PlayCore (the playground manufacturer) who heard about Libby and is willing to donate some of the equipment.
The donations and projects that are either in the works or ongoing has prompted us to enlarge the playground and increase the scope of work. It is exciting and humbling to fully realize the number of people that were touched by Libby.
We are still getting donations as friends continue to send checks and money in the mail along with sympathy cards and letters. We are to the point in the fundraising that I plan to place the order to begin the fabrication of the playground within a week or so.
Thanks to everyone who continues to sell bracelets, T-shirts and donate to Libby's Living Legacy.
As you can see from the new amount we have updated the total donated to include the Chili Lunch fundraiser (held on Sunday) and money received from checks mailed into the fund. We are all excited by the generosity of all of the donors.
I have posted a link to a video that was shot last week when a friend of ours sang a song to Libby that she wrote for her. Libby had a birthday yesterday on 3/3/14 but she slept most of the day. I think the weekends wear her out and it takes her a few days to recover. Thanks to everyone for the donations for the playground.
Wow! the donations that are comming in are awesome! I read the names to Libby every time she is awake long enough to listen and she just shakes her head in total disbelief. She is literally embarassed that people think so much of her that they would take the time to write a note and even more so that they send a donation to the playground in her honor.
In additon to this website there is money comming in via US mail from and some are being hand delivered, all totaled the fund is over $10,000 to date and growing. Thank you to everyone for loving my best friend.
Libby continues to improve although it is slower than either of us wants. We have been leaving the house only to go the doctor but over the weekend we ventured out to eat and then on Sunday we went to church for the first time in a month! So, she is making progress.
Thanks to all of those who have contributed toward the playground.
Wow, I want to personally thank everyone that has donated to Libby's playground. It is going better than I could have imagined, over $4000 between this site and checks received in the mail. Libby likes for me to read the comments from people (she never asks about the money, only the comments). Now I, on the other hand, keep track of the money becasue I still have this dream of a dedication service this spring for a completed playground followed by the largest dinner on the ground ever in Chattanooga Valley!
So thank you for your prayers, your comments and for your donations!
