Bre is a beautiful, talented, amazing girl. She is 14. She is a gifted dancer, she loves baking cookies, long boarding, camping, eating Oreos, and hanging out with her friends and her family. She's also beginning the biggest battle of her life.
Bre has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is a cancerous tumor that occurs in the bone. It is rare, accounting for approximatel...y 3 percent of childhood cancers, and for only 1 percent of all cancers diagnosed in the U.S. each year. When it does occur, it is usually in adolescents between the ages of 13 and 16, coinciding with the growth spurt. The most common sites for it to happen are in the long bones, and Bre's tumor has been found in her tibia, below her knee in her right leg.
Bre is being treated at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City. She is beginning treatment for this cancer with first chemotherapy, followed by surgery to remove the tumor from her leg, followed by more chemotherapy. The process will take a little over seven months if all goes well (which of course it will!).
There is a struggle ahead, but its a battle that will be won! We Believe in Bre!!!
Bre is a wonderful girl with a wonderful family. They need all of the positive energy, thoughts and prayers that you can send their way! If you would like to contribute further, a donation site has been established at youcaring.com/believeinbre. The medical bills are a big thing to face, but there are also many travel expenses to consider and also the time her parents, will miss from work in the coming months in order to care for her during her fight. Every little bit helps!
