As some of you may know, Talia Czapski was in a serious car accident on June 9th. The car in which she was riding was hit head on by a drunk driver. The driver was 19, has no license or insurance, and did not own the car he was driving (which also doesn’t have insurance). Unfortunately it is unlikely that she will be able to recover payment for all of her medical bills from the individual that hit her.
Her injuries are severe and profound: she has two broken femurs, a broken hand and a broken foot. She successfully underwent surgery, but her injuries are debilitating, and she faces a painful and long-term convalescence. She does have health insurance but that will only cover a portion of her bills. She stayed in the hospital for 6 days and will be at the rehab center for 2 to 2 ½ weeks. She is a strong and brave young woman, but she will need everyone's help and support during her lengthy recovery.
Our initial goal was to ease Talia’s mind about her wonderful mare Aria; thanks to everyone's generosity, we have successfully raised enough to pay Aria's bills for a full year! As a result, Talia will be able to recover and heal without worrying about her horse. Now we are focused on raising more funds to help cover her hospital and rehab bills. The hospital's billing process takes time, but ultimately the cost of her treatment will be in the tens of thousands--and will only be partially covered by her family's insurance.
Please pass this fundraiser on to anyone you know who might like to help, and we will be profoundly grateful for anything you are able to give. Thank you!
