The Story

Trent’s lack of oral health is putting his life in jeopardy, despite his daily efforts to take care of it. Trent is in so much pain he can barely eat and has resorted to drinking Ensure nutrition drinks to get his daily calories.  He takes four Naproxen/ibuprofen before bed, otherwise he wakes during the night in pain.  He has constant infections springing up in his mouth and several teeth have fallen out.  It is very possible pathogens could spread to his blood leading to sepsis, which can be fatal if not treated immediately.  Less severe, doctors fear the jawbone may be infected, which may necessitate surgery to remove the infected bone.  It could also lead to swelling of the airway. Aside from the medical severity of the situation, he does not smile in front of others which has damaged his self-esteem and has lead to a daily battle to not give into depression.  I am impressed with his endurance and the daily renewal to choose an optimistic frame of mind.

Unfortunately, Trent has no insurance and despite a genuine effort he has been unable to find a job in a town where they are dwindling.

Trent is terribly ashamed and in no way would want to jeopardize his relationships by admitting he needs help, but he does.  I took it upon myself to write this because someone I love is in trouble, helplessly doesn’t know which way to turn, and frankly desperate times cause for desperate measures.  I couldn’t live with myself knowing that I didn’t at least try to help him.

Trent has seen both his dentist and an oral surgeon in regards to this matter. Both professionals agree that no less than 13 teeth need to be extracted immediately to prevent further damage. This is not including root canals, additional fillings, implants, and any other surgeries that could very well transpire as a result of this.

As any of you who have had your teeth cleaned at a dentist know, DENTAL WORK IS EXPENSIVE! The extractions alone will cost about $5,000, and this does not include anything else mentioned above.

My brother needs your help. Please try and put yourself in his shoes. How would you feel if you couldn’t smile all day, every day?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope this has made an impact on you, and you can find it in your heart to help.

Every little bit helps.

Trent here.

I'm beyond speechless at the kindness of everyone, be they friends, fans, people who have no idea who I am but have helped out. Each and every one of you is a blessing, and I will never forget this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm in an almost constant state of being misty-eyed.

Thank you again to everybody who has donated so far, or who has shared the link. It really means a lot. More than you know.

Trent's extraction surgery is scheduled for June 13th--that was the soonest they could get him in. In the meantime, please continue to share but, more importantly, sincerest thank yous. You people are wonderful.

Trent's most recent Facebook post:

Next time someone feels people are no good, I need only point them to the utter kindness I've received in the last ten-or-so days. Feel so supported, and so loved. You guys, you there, and you, and you, you and you and you, are all amazing ♥
