The Story

On July 13, 2013, Tim Milford was helping a friend and neighbor when he fell 15' off a platform.  The fall resulted in several broken ribs and crushed vertebrae which resulted in spinal injury.  Tim's initial diagnosis was paralysis from the chest down; however, surgery performed on July 15, 2013 gave a more promising prognosis.  The doctor reported repairs on the vertebrae and spine as strong and healthy with no damage or leaks to the sack that surrounds the spinal cord.

Fortunately, Tim is a fighter and his spirits are high.  Less, than 24 hours after the accident, he was joking with former classmates and telling others how they were going to have to re-organize rooms so he could continue to volunteer.

Tim's journey to recovery is going to be long and costly and he needs your help.  Tim and his family would be the first to step forward to help a family member, friend, or neighbor in need.  Now, it is our turn to pay it forward and reciprocate.

Donations can be made via PayPal on this site.  Checks (made payable to Tim or Rhonda Milford) and cash will also be accepted at the Fowler State Bank and Duck Inn.  You may also mail checks to PO Box 207, Fowler, KS  67844.

I spoke with Tim a couple of hours ago.  He's been planning how to attend Monday's Board of Education meeting face-to-face through ITV.  He also made some reccommendations for presenting the budget to the new members so they will better understand how it works.  Even in his absence while in rehab in Nebraska, he still fulfilling his duty as Board President.

On a funny note:  He told me he got a new pair of tennis shoes.  He then laughed and said it was going to take a long time to break in the shoes!  What a great sense of humor.

Pictures of Tim learning to put on his shoes are surfacing on Facebook but my favorite is the one posted here with Tim working on a computer.

Is  anyone surprised that TIM IS WORKING ON A COMPUTER?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After putting on his shoes for the first time, the therapist told him to take them off.  His reply, "but I just got them on . . . "  You have to love that man's spirit, determination, and sense of humor.

House remodeling to make it ADA accessible is continuing and the volunteer support is tremdnous.

Keep the support of time, talent, and treasure coming.  We can feel it here in our little
corner of the world.

At 10AM this morning, Tim headed to Lincoln, NE to start rehabilitation.  Therapist anticipate he will stay 4-6 weeks, at the conclusion of which he will be able to live completely independent of assistance.

Tim continues to have limited controlled movement in his feet/toes but it is only when he is completely rested and relaxed.  Medical staff is not talking much about this, but we're still praying for a miracle.

Remodel at the Milford home is underway to make it ADA accessible before Tim returns from rehab.  Several area contractors are donating their time and talent but and local suppliers are making donations but this will be costly project.

Please help spread the word of Tim's continued progress and needs.  Although a lot of progress has been made in the two weeks since Tim's accident, there is still a long road ahead.  Continued prayers and financial support are needed.

A big thanks to everyone who has contributed time, talent, and treasure toward Tim's recovery.  The family very much appreciates the support.

Confirmed by TJ:  Tim is moving his toes ON COMMAND!!!

This could change everything.  Keep the donations coming because it could result in longer rehabilitation but we'll take it.  Wow!  Just wow.

God is good -- ALL THE TIME.
