He is Mateo. He is the closest thing to an Angel. Always thankful. Always smiling. Even at the hospital through surgeries and treatments.
I have known Mateo's mom since she was a little girl. Always happy, open minded, cheerful and ready to help anybody.
I have known his grandparents also for the longest. Great friends, Christian folks.
Mateo is in need of a kidney. His grandmother is going to give him hers. But the transplant is expensive and they need help so Mateo can live.
Please help if you can. Anything helps.
God bless you.
- MAT STORY
- Mateo is our joyful first born boy, first grandchild. Mateo is 31 months old. He was born in Mexico and everything seemed to be ok until the 39 pregnancy week when a doctor found out he was out of amniotic fluid Therefore they ordered a c-section. He was born and everything seemed to be normal for the first months, no one noticed something was wrong until one day when he was 8 months he had to be hospitilized dehydrated. They did not found out much, we went to visit another doctor and they ordered more studies where they found something wrong in his urinary system and he needed several surgeries to fix it but while this happened there were no specialist in our town so we had to find someone in Mexico City where he was transfered And we knew no one there.
He had his first surgery on March 13, 2012 and started to gain weight but then things went wrong again and went into another surgery on August of the same year, now the doctors talked to us about renal failure...a few months later on May 2014 Mateo started peritonial dialysis dialy at home. Mum had to learn how to dialyse his child and they've been doing it since then.
the transplant was far by then because he didnt have enough weight to receive a kidney from an alive donor. Well after 9 months in dialysis he has the minimum weight to get his transplant. The doctors started talking to us about the donor and his Grandma jump out and said: ME! The doctor thought she was great candidate.
The studies went on and everything went ok so we are pretty close to the transplant the only thing that is separating from this is finances and one surgery that will be on February 27, 2014 where he is having the parathyroids removed. After the surfery the transplant will be scheduled, the cost of the transplant surgery is around 100,000 usd. The transplant will be done in Mexico City where we have to stay around four months after the surgery.A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MATEO
Mateo our first child is joyful, adventurous, and free. He is one of the happiest kids in the hospital and his illness can't stop him he plays and tries to do things. He barely walks because the renal osteodistrophy has affected his bones but that doesnt keeps him from moving. He is an always smiling kid willing and teaching us to live life with a thankful and joyful heart.
We do know the transplant is a risky surgery but we are sure that God is in control of all things and that He will do his will for the best.
