The Story

Hi friends, 

I'm Meredith, and I am a dear friend of the Rancourt Family. I have set up and will be managing this fundraiser, and can assure you all that the funds donated will be going directly to the Rancourt family to be used however they need.

Lily is four years old, and her parents sweet answer to many prayers. Lily was adopted in May, 2012, from Inner Mongolia, China. She has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Heterotaxy, single lung, and complete situs inversus. Lily had her BT shunt and Glenn open heart surgeries in China. In July, 2012, she had her Fontan open heart surgery, and another surgery inDecember 2012 to attempt to reattach her right pulmonary artery to her heart. Unfortunately, that did not work, so Lily is living with only half a heart and one lung. She was listed for a heart transplant several months ago, and just yesterday received the call that she had a heart!!! Lily's family is in the process of adopting another child, a son, with severe CHD, and could greatly use any amount we are able to raise for them to help with Lily's medical expenses. Lily's life is full of HOPE, friends, and she had blessed thousands around the world. Let's help bless them back.

Lily did very well during her first heart catheterization on her new hero heart. As suspected, the pressures in her left lung are very high, but the surgeon made the call to wait another 6-8 weeks before putting a stent in her left pulmonary artery. Lily's new heart has strong squeeze, but the heart's release after the squeeze is too relaxed and delayed. This could be a sign of early organ rejection. We are rejoicing that Lily's new hero heart has two strong ventricles with excellent squeeze, and praying that the delayed release after the heart's squeeze improves! We will have the biopsy results back by tomorrow!

From Lily's Mommy: 06/19/14

After yesterday morning's excitement, Lily had a relatively good day. One of the anti-rejection medications, Tacrolimus, seems to cause Lily's glucose level to soar into the upper 500's. She is now on an insulin drip, and the nurse is monitoring Lily's glucose regularly. We found out this morning that Lily was negative for Donor Specific Antibodies (DSA), which has been linked to organ rejection. So this is a huge praise! Today I am focusing on prayers of Thanksgiving that Lily Grace no longer has 1/2 of a broken heart. She has two ventricles, and a new heart that is beating strong and steady. I will boldly ask our omnipotent God to align Lily's right ventricle to work in perfect harmony with her body. I feel so humbled and privileged to get a front row seat to Lily's life full of miracles. All because Jacques and I said, "Yes Lord, send us!" When God strongly urges you to do something, obey. If Jacques and I would have allowed fear, finances, stability, and the great unknown to stop us....we would have missed out on all of this!!! God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). To God be the glory...always.

From Lily's Mommy: 6/17/14

The post transplant roller coaster is intense. Today Lily had a lot of awake moments with purposeful movements. When Lily would open her eyes she would reach for me and move her lips to say, "mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy". When she realized that I would not take her breathing tube out she smacked her hand down on her bed, crossed her legs, and tried to remove the restraints on her wrists. Oh how I love the fight in my sweet girl!!! Tonight Lily had a blood sugar level of 535 (
way too high) and a sodium level of 126 (way too low). Her oxygen saturations dropped, and the line attached to her heart's right ventricle showed that her pressures are too high. After a relatively good day these changes are worrisome. The doctor called for blood cultures to check for infection. A couple hours ago I sent Jacques a text that said I was scared. He responded, "There will be a lot of valley's and scares as Lily recovers. As her body wakes, it will fight the heart even more. I will pray. We need to brace ourselves for a battle - Lily style!" My prayer tonight is that God is near as we continue into this battle. Be brave!!
