The Story

Well for those that know me do know that this is not something I come to lightly or easily.

So on June 6th, 2014 I was diagnosed with Male Breast Cancer.  Pretty crazy right!  I had a single mastectomy on June 16th removing my left breast issue and surrounding fat.

Biopsy confirmed that I have Stage 2B, Invasive Ductile Carcinoma (Grade 3...just means it is mean and grows fast).  I am currently at the beginning of my chemotherapy treatment as the Cancer has made the jump to my lymph nodes.

By all accounts and all my talks with my Oncologist I will be fine, and pull through this like a boss.  (Seriously...Like a Boss!)

That is well and good and I am happy for the advances in Modern Medicine and that while my treatment will last 20 weeks I should come through on the other side cancer free, and healthy!

So now that leads me to this fundraiser.  This stuff isn't cheap.  While I have insurance and it will cover a vast majority of this I still have medical bills, and this is what I am asking for help with.  I don't want to be in debt for the next few years because of this...and many of my friends said..."What ever you need just ask."

So I am asking for some assistance with my medical bills.

Right now I am sitting at as of right now about $2800 in expenses that my insurance isn't covering.   That number will go up for sure, but not by a lot but it will still climb.  I have set my limit at $3500 currently, only so I can cover those increases. (Let me also state I am still paying for things I just think this as a boost will keep me from serious medical debt)

I see the doctors & Physical Therapists now about twice a week...that $40 bucks a trip.  $80 dollars a week on just visits (other costs factor in as well) At 20 Weeks worth of treatment that's an extra $1600 dollars.  So you can see the money issues I am facing.

So basically I am asking for help...$5...$10 here and there...$40 bucks for a copay.  You get the idea.

You all asked what you could do for me and while I appreciate all the love and support if you can toss a few bucks my way too I won't complain.

Anyway that is my story...I'll make sure to update folks as things progress and as always thank you for all that you already and what you will do for me.

Okay Kickstarter Style Rewards for Helping me Kick Cancer's Ass!

$1-$20  -  You have my heartfelt gratitude and thanks for lending what aid you can.  I know its hard sometime to pitch money and we all do what we can. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart...and the cockles of my heart...may my sub-cockles...maybe the liver...maybe even the kidneys.  Plus next time you see me you get a Hug...come on who doesn't want a hug from a jolly fat man!

$21-$40 - Much like reward one...however I will also paint any one normal sized (i.e. one standard medium sized) gaming Miniature for you. So we will work out the details and what miniature you want done.  I will paint to your specifications (colors, scheme, and what not). However as I can't supply the mini...so that is on you too and I will ask for about 2 week turn around from when said mini is in my hands.

$41-$75 -  Similar to reward level 2...except I will paint either a Large mini of your choice (Giant, Smallish Dragon, X-Wing Mini repaint etc), or 2 medium miniatures of your choice.  Again 2 week turn around per mini (I want to make sure I have time and can do it right)

$75 - $100 2 Large or 3 smaller minis.  Or I will set aside time for you and few friends and run a short session of an RPG (say four hour event PFS or D&D or whatever....if I don't have the game get a copy so I can run it.)  If this needs to be a virtual session I can make that work too...ain't technology grand.

Also I am adding a army painting level.  If you want a warband, squad, or even a full army painted we can negotiate what that donation and time frame should look like (Something a akin to this if it's Warhammer Fantasy/40k $1 for every 2 points you want me to paint...however if you want me to paint skaven or imperial guard we will have a deeper conversation about that... ;)  Anyway feel free to contact me if this is a route you would like to donate).

Well all the goalline is in sight.  Chemotherapy is done.  Monday December 8th, begins 6 weeks of Radiation and that should shut the book on this chapter.

I want to thank Russ Brown and Jeff Kokx for an amazing Fundraiser convention at Enchanted Grounds in Highlands Ranch Colorado, and the Pathfinder Society community here in Denver.  They really just banged a Grand Slam or critical awesomeness for me.

So 6 weeks and I should be a cancer Free Man!

Thank you to all for your love and support over the last 20 weeks...6 more to go!

Hey All!

It's been a bit since I have given everyone an update about my goings on!

So this Monday I started Round 2 of my Chemotherapy.  The short name is AC...the long name is. Adriamycin and Cytoxan.  Shall I say that the first treatment has gone well..it hasn't.  Within about a minute of getting the Adriamycin I was throwing up.  And it didn't really stop until around 6pm last night.  Today I have been urpy and ughy.  The anti-nausea meds aren't really doing their job so well.  Before 8000 of your start telling me use Pot just me I have already walked down that rabbit hole as well. Long story short this is going to be a rough ride.

So last week I got to take an amazing trip to the Grand Cayman...swam with a Dolphin,  held a Stingray, and got to play with a toddler Sea Turtle.  (Scritching them under the neck makes a sea turtle very docile) Overall a great time and more or less relaxing.

The week prior I got Neupognen, (boosts my White Blood Cell count strengthening my immune system). It is fast acting, and side effects last about a week.  As mentioned before it the main side effect is deep bone ache due to it driving my bone marrow into over drive to produce White Blood Cells.  Well my legs from hip to knee are in agonizing pain..which is fading (not fast enough)...until today when I get Neulasta (Neupogen's big brother) See AC will tank my Immune system faster and more harshly.  So I have to get a bigger booster...which has the same side effects except is is a long term drug...so don't think my legs are going to get much of a reprieve.

Hang on to your Hats kids!! There is more!  A few weeks ago I was in the hospital because of a Kidney Stone.  Well since then I have had the Kidney Pain resurface, from time to time. Oncologist office ordered a urine test and I was told I have a high level of blood in my urine...so they ordered an ultra sound of my Kidneys and that turned up nothing...however I now have an appointment with a Urologist tomorrow to see what else is or isn't wrong with me.  YAY!!!

Hey All,

It's been a bit since I last updated.  Sorry about that.  Life with Cancer and all getting in the way.  I want to take a moment to thank EVERYONE that is supporting me...emotionally or financially. It has meant a lot to me.

I have had to make an adjustment to the Fundraiser, two new bills rolled in. Surgeon's bill and my anesthesiologist's bill both about $600 each.  So adding $1200 to my bills.

As always thank you for your support and love.  It is making this fight much easier.
