Help Renay's Medical Alert Service Dog Funding
A service dog's is a partner whose training will enable her to assist Renay with daily tasks and serve as an allergy alert dog. Your donations will assist with training by Mountain High Service Dog in preparing Renay and her dog for its lifesaving job ahead.
Renay is a mom, wife, and college student; she has dealt with severe food allergies for years, even as they have progressively gotten worst. Until recently she and her family have been able to lead a fairly normal life, about 3 years ago her family moved from Colorado to Texas and with that move life has become very hard to live. In the past three years Renay has had several life-threatening allergic reactions; you see she is allergic to onions. An allergic reaction always occurs when she is exposed to onions, but becomes life-threatening when they are raw, onions -- and those are everywhere in Texas they even grow wild here! In the past year Renay has had too many life-threatening reactions, which has caused a drastic change to her and her family’s way of life. This happens whether she is inside or outside; the vapors are the trigger. Unfortunately, her treatment options are also very limited as she is also allergic to the inert ingredients in an Epipen. It just isn’t possible to live a normal life if you know you will be calling 911, but you never know when.
A family friend suggested she get an allergy detection service dog.
Your donations will help cover the initial cost of the service dog, for training and evaluations for Renay and her service dog; training sessions include CGC (Canine Good Citizenship Test); PAT (Public Access Test); CGCA" (Advanced CGC), detection and task training. It will also provide working gear such as vests, mobility harnesses, patches, etc., will also help with veterinarian costs to make sure Renay’s service dog is always fit and healthy to perform its job.
From Renay - "I can't wait to be a part of everyone's world again, to be able to leave the house without being in constant fear that I may not come home again. Or that my daughters will watch me during another attack and be traumatized. A service dog is the best chance for our family to living a normal life again. Our family needs about $10,000 to get my service dog through Mountain High Service Dogs, Inc. (while this is on the lower end of the cost range for service dog and training), my family and I do not have the financial means to pay for this. I don’t know of many families that would. We have little money of our own to put toward this much needed service dog, as I am a college student, my husband is a DOD contractor and we never know if the contract will be renewed or if he will be laid off once again, so I am doing my best figuring out ways to fundraise for this promising chance at a normal life for us and our 2 children. Please help me raise funds to train one of these amazing, life-changing service dogs.
Any donation you can provide would be so helpful, even if it is a dollar. And if you can't donate, please share this on your Facebook page or let people in your community know about this, so others can hear my story and support my cause.
