The Story

"I have a strong Faith and God will not give me more than I can handle. These are the words I say to myself everyday. I choose to fight and have a huge team of warriors beside me"- Julie Cumpata
She is a daughter, a sister, a niece, an aunt, a sister-in-law, a cousin, a grand-daughter, a God-Mother. She is a colleague, a mentor and a friend to so many. She has been there for each of us at one time or another and now she needs us as she is fighting for her life. We are her warriors!

Warrior (definitions):
1. A person who shows great vigor, courage or aggressiveness.
2. One who is engaged aggressively or energically in an activity, cause or conflict/battle.
A fitting word to describe both Julie and the power we collectively hold to participate in this battle with her.

The outpouring of support for Julie has been tremendous and she will be the first to tell you that it inspires her each day. We all seem to ask the same thing; however, "what can I do to help"? This website has been established to help Julie through this difficult journey and to offset the medical expenses she is incurring as she navigates through innovative treatments.

THANK YOU for your support! Please continue to hold Julie in your thoughts and prayers!

An Update on Julie February 9, 2015

Julie continues to fight with tremendous courage and an undeniable positive spirit! Just after the Christmas holiday, she landed in the hospital. Her cancer has caused additional issues and ultimately an aggressive infection.

Although Julie is home, it has required the care of additional nurses around the clock to assist her in her daily routines. They provide meals and care for Julie when she needs a little more than her own energy to get some common tasks done.

The at-home care is not an expense covered by her insurance and they are in fact necessary at this point and certainly not a luxury. Julie has been out of work for quite some time and any assistance would be appreciated to relieve the financial burden from her family's out-of-pocket expenses.

Julie continues to be grateful for each and every one of her family & friends who have been there in mulitple ways supporting her through this journey. The cards, letters, food, donations, gifts, meals and gift cards have meant the world to her and have made a huge difference during her fight. She especially loved her surpirse birthday party! The love and support have been the most important, along with Prayers.  Julie's prayer is that her miracle will come true. Please continue to include her into your daily prayers.

An Update From Julie October 2013:

While I sit down to write a quick update regarding my health website, I am reminded of all of the amazing friends, family, colleagues, childhood friends and neighbors, customers, and many others who have supported me throughout the past year.  Although it has been a long and difficult journey this year, I am eternally grateful for all of the love, prayers, support, donations, emails, texts, phone calls, presents, visits, cards, meals and many other things others have done for me.  Every day I am reminded that I am not alone in this fight for my life and am truly blessed.

Currently, I am in good health but am officially undiagnosed in the world of cancer.  I believe my cancer to be ovarian and am on an ovarian regimen, which I pray to God every day that it is working.  I have a long fight ahead of me but never give up the hope and my faith that God will grant me my miracle-to be CANCER-FREE.

During the past year, I have had the opportunity to see many friends and family members, former colleagues, etc. and create many more memories.  I was able to travel this summer and took trips to Charleston, the Hamptons, Newport, RI and Jackson Hole, WY to see Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons.  Special friends and family made these arrangements and they were opportunities of a lifetime.  Everyone knows that I love to travel and these people so near and dear to my heart took the time to plan and prepare my adventures.

I continue to work each day, have my hair and am still the same Julie that you all know, just in a smaller package-30 lb. weight loss due to digestive issues.  If that is the worst of it, I am the luckiest cancer patient yet.  There have been many battles I have fought along the way but am stronger than ever and continue to fight.  They always say you don’t know how strong you are until you have to be.  Well my parents raised me to do so and it has served me well in this situation.

So thank you to everyone that continues to pray and support me as you will never know how much it has meant to me and my family.  I am loved, blessed and gracious-What more can a gal ask for! I love hearing from each of you and am honored by all of the kind words stated on the website.  Please keep in touch, as my personal email is [email protected]

Eternally grateful,

What Cancer Cannot Do”-Author Unknown (Julie holds this close)

Cancer is so limited….

It cannot cripple Love

It cannot cripple Hope

It cannot corrode Faith

It cannot destroy Peace

It cannot kill Friendship

It cannot suppress Memories

It cannot silence Courage

It cannot invade the Soul

It cannot steal eternal Life

And it will NOT conquer MY SPIRIT!
