In December 2014, Ferne Reed began experiencing dizzy spells. Although she and her husband Tom were not seriously concerned at first, when Ferne fell hard enough to break her glasses and cause a concussion, they sought medical help. An MRI revealed that Ferne had a large, inoperable, tumor on the front of her brain. The doctors suggested Chemotherapy and ordered a biopsy which confirmed Glioblastoma cancer. They have found that there is not much that can be done. After a stay in the hospital, Ferne has not given been much of a chance to survive the tumor so they turned to Hospice. She was admitted to Big Bend Hospice, but is now back at home with Tom, who is her sole caregiver. Due to the situation with Ferne, Tom is unable to work at this time and the hospital bills are beginning to roll in. Tom and Ferne do not have insurance. They have applied for assistance, but they could use help to get through this tough time. If you can donate, please do, and help Tom through this difficult time. The last thing he, or anyone going through this situation, needs to worry about is how much it is going to cost to support and love their spouse during their final months. Please spread the word!
