Posted on January 23, 2015We would like to offer a sincere thank you for everyone who has donated thus far. Sara's last day of chemotherapy is scheduled for tomorrow. She is exhausted, but she remains as positive as ever. If everything goes as expected and the MRI on February 6th yields the expected outcome, she will soon thereafter begin radiation therapy. The plan is to have it administered at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Sara and Mom will likely be there for six or more weeks. Also, you may have noticed the goal amount for the fundraiser has increased. Right now, the goal amount is a moving target. We don't quite have an exact idea of how expensive all of this will ultimately be and we are aware that additional fundrasing is being done on our behalf. Thank you all again for your generosity!

Posted on December 27, 2014Merry Christmas to everyone who has prayed for Sara, donated money, brought a meal, sent a card or a gift....you were always on our minds and in our thoughts during our holiday celebrations.
Sara was supposed to have a round of chemo this week, in fact she was supposed to have infusions Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, however her numbers had not recovered enough from her previous round of chemo for her to have this one. So her third round of chemo ended up being pushed back a week. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. It is lovely not having to stress about getting to infusions at the clinic during Christmas and our celebrations, but it is nervewracking to think that she is not doing well enough/recovering enough from chemo to stay on schedule. They are planning on giving her another medication before her next round to help her bounce back a little better.
With chemotherapy coming to an end, our minds have been on radiation and what that will entail for our family. In approximately 6 weeks Sara will be scheduled to start radiation. I am trying to figure out what to do about my work. I (Angie) definitely want to be the one to take her to CHOP....however my job is VERY important as it provides our family with health insurance (and income). Radiation will be 6 weeks long and it is Mon-Fri, probably beginning in the middle of Feb. So this is definitely weighing heavily on our minds as we approach the midway point of chemo.
We had a wonderful holiday with our dear family, and we hope all of our friends did as well! Thank you for your support, from the bottoms of our hearts!

Posted on December 17, 2014Sweet girl had some pretty terrible numbers today on her labs--not surprising considering how pale she has been this week and how fond she has been of napping....so our "short day" at the cancer clinic has become a long day including a transfusion of both platelets and blood. As they were hooking her up to infuse the blood and blood products they were saying Sara's blood type as well as that of the donor and I can't help but feel thankful to whomever it was who felt led to donate the blood that is now entering my child's body. So thank you, whoever you are. Thank you to everyone who has donated blood in the past, and please consider donating blood in the future if you can.
