*Please consider making a donation to the Danielle Hufft Fund and help support her fight against breast cancer.
This page is dedicated to our very special friend, Danielle Hufft, who is one of the strongest, funniest, and most beautiful people I know. For those who don’t have the pleasure of knowing her well, let me tell you a little about her. Danielle grew up here in New Orleans. She was a Delta Zeta at LSU and graduated (with honors) with a business degree in 2005. She then attended law school at Loyola and received her J.D. in 2008. She currently practices law at Herman, Herman & Katz, LLC.
Danielle is an incredible person who always goes above and beyond for those she loves. Her positive energy and spirit is contagious. She’s the kind of person who makes everything fun, puts everyone at ease, and looks out for those in need. She is a caring friend to so many, with too many friends to count!
She has a beautiful little family with her devoted husband, Jeff, her precious 5-month-old daughter, Ella, and let’s not forget her beloved dogs, Ocie and Happy. :)
Three weeks ago, I would have started this story about my friend the exact same way. Little did I or anyone else know how the very next chapter would begin or the significant obstacles she would soon have to face.
On April 13, 2015, at 31 years old, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically, Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Her biopsy results showed that the cancer is what’s called Triple Negative, which is the most aggressive form of breast cancer.
Naturally, she was devastated and shaken by her diagnosis. She experienced the wide range of human emotions you would imagine. But, in true Danielle form, she didn’t sit still long and soon had a plan of attack to BEAT this! Within days, she had assembled a support network of other women, friends and friends of friends, who have gone through similar experiences and who set her up with the best doctors in town. Last Friday she had surgery to have a port put in, and this week she began 6 months of chemotherapy. Once she is finished with chemo, she plans to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction.
As many of you already know, Danielle is an incredibly strong person. She is staying very positive and learning to make the most of her new reality by embracing positive changes like clean eating and practicing yoga. She is determined to live as healthy and active a life as possible while she fights this disease. She is inspiring everyone around her with her incredible grace and determination… and the love, prayers and support she is receiving are motivating her to overcome the significant obstacles she faces.
Danielle and her family have been humbled by the outpouring of support and generosity that have been offered from friends, colleagues and the community in general. Sooooo many people have asked what more they can do to help her during this challenging time.
Thankfully, Danielle has health insurance. However, there are many parts of her treatment that will not be covered. For example, the best surgical oncologist in the area is not in-network for her insurance. Therefore, the majority of her surgery costs will not be covered. In addition, she will have to cover a large deductible, co-payments, in-home care, medical equipment and a host of other expenses, big and small. Over time (chemotherapy will be for 6 months followed by surgery), the cost of these things can seriously add up and amount to literally tens of thousands of dollars added to the family's daily cost of living. Since it is not in Danielle’s nature to ask for help, friends of both Danielle and Jeff have set up the “Team Danielle” Fund to help offset the massive costs associated with bringing her back to health. We ask that you join “Team Danielle” and contribute to our effort. While contributions may not accelerate her physical progress, your donation, no matter how big or small, will help ease the financial burden these expenses have put on the Hufft family and allow them to focus on healing. Whatever support you are able to contribute to them during this challenging time would be greatly appreciated, not only by Danielle and Jeff, but also by all those who know and love them. *HOW YOU CAN HELP!
Monetary donations are being accepted and appreciated by the family. Team Danielle will use PayPal as our donation processor. The site is secure, reliable and will provide Danielle and Jeff with easy access to their fund.
YouCaring.com (this website) is free and does not charge any fees for donations. However, please note that when you make a donation, you will be given the option of also making a contribution to the site to help keep it free. THIS IS OPTIONAL and you can change it to $0 simply by clicking on "edit this amount" and choosing $0. Paypal only collects a very small percent of your contributions (about 3%) for payment processing. ALL the money raised will go DIRECTLY to Danielle and Jeff!

Many people have asked about contributing food. Their fridge is currently stocked and they have sufficient volunteers to help keep it that way for the next few weeks. However, her treatment plan is long, and we will be posting updates as the need arises.
If you would like to receive "Updates" that are posted to this site, please click the button under the "Give Now" button labeled "Subcribe to Updates" (with the heart icon on it)... then simply add your preferred email address.
