The Story

Sunday, May 19th was just a normal day of outdoor activities and family fun. Chris spent the day with friends mushroom hunting and spending time with his kids. In the early evening he started feeling a little off, but really didn't think much of it. He went home to bed, hoping to feel better in the morning. Monday when he woke up it was clear that something wasn't right. He tried to go to work as usual, but when he arrived at his carpool it was clear that he needed immediate medical attention. He was rushed to Sparrow Hospital where it was determined that he had suffered a stroke. He has lost mobility and coordination on his right side. He is already in the process of rehabilitation. We are all very positive that he will make a complete and full recovery.

We appreciate all the thoughts, love, and prayers you are all sending our way. Chris has a very long road ahead of him. It will take time and determination for him to regain all of the skills and functions that were lost.

We are creating this fundraiser as our brother and his wife will incur many unforeseen expenses over the next few months as he will be unable to work and will require extensive therapy.

Chris has made great progress over the past few months. He completed physical, occupational, and speech therapy. He has improved drastically and was released to return to work this week. He still has a way to go as he continues to regain his coordination but he is doing very well for being only 8 weeks post-stroke. Thank you all for your continued love, support, and prayers!

Chris was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, May 26th. He is doing incredibly well and has surpassed everyone's expecatations for inpatient rehab. He still has a long road to a full recovery, however we are very optimistic. He will continue his physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for the next 4-6 weeks. For now he's just happy to be home with his wife and kids. Thank you for the continued support!
