The Story

Henry and his mother Sandra are currently homeless in LA. Here is the situation, Sandra has fallen on hard times.  She is a victim of domestic violence and because of that is blind in her left eye. This has made it hard for her to get and keep a normal job.  She has a son by the name of Henry, a really cute intelligent kid who is now in kindergarten.  Unfortunately, Sandra has had a series of misfortunes that has her on the verge of being on the Streets of Los Angeles.  LA is a rough place, especially on the streets.

Sandra is a capable, intelligent, creative person who can earn the money necessary to take care of her and her son if she could just get a leg up.  She was laid off from her job back in January.  Unfortunately after the layoff and though a series of misfortunes she became homeless.

With your help she can get back on her feet.   To do this we will help her in several phases:

Phase one: Stabilize her living situation (Completed on 6-10-2015!).  We want to keep her and her son in a clean, positive functional environment so they can stop stressing about where they are going to be day to day.

Phase Two: Reliable Transportation.  We want to help her buy or lease a vehicle so that she can get to her job(s) and earn money to achieve her other goals. In LA this is very important.  Unfortunately in LA, getting around by automobile is the only viable means of transportation.

Phase Three: Earn Income. We want to help her earn income so she can be self-sufficient. She has many jobs that she wants to do.  We will help her get prepared to start work successfully.

Phase Four: Move her into an apartment.

Phase Five: Help her get a permanent long term home for her and Henry.

Phase Six: Help her achieve her dream of opening a new type of Day Care business.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our goal now is to raise $2500 towards the continued stabilization of her living situation.   The money will go towards, hotel costs, transportation, moving costs, food, supplies and other misc. costs associated with being homeless and getting back on one's feet.

Thanks to your help, on Fri May 1st, we were able to move Henry and Sandra out of her negative situation and get her into a clean positive hotel situation.  Our goal now is to keep them in the hotel until she can get moved into an apartment.  She is in touch with a city agency that will pay for all the move-in costs for the apartment but this process will take several days.  In the meantime we want to keep them off the streets.

STATUS:

Sunday, May 10th: We helped her move in to a clean safe stable temporary living situation for 30 days.

Friday, May 1st: we helped her buy moving supplies, got her some food, helped her move and gave her a ride to the hotel where we checked them in.

Currently: we are helping her get reliable transportation (car) but still need money to keep her in her temp living situation and help her buy or lease a reliable car so she can start work.

With your help Henry and Sandra can get back on their feet!

Please donate if you can.

THANK YOU!

Sandra has a car!  We are happy to report that Sandra was able to successfully purchase a vehicle.  This is a major milestone that will allow her to earn money via ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft and package delivery services like postmates.  See a pic of the new car in the gallery.   Now that Phase 2 is complete it's on to Phase 3: Income.  Thanks to everyone who helped Sandra.  If you can please donate so we can achieve the fundraising goal and help Sandra achieve her dreams.

Just wanted to give everyone and update on Henry and Sandra.  So because of many generous donations we were able to get Sandra and Henry into a good safe temporary living situation for the next thirty days where she can focus on achieving her goals.  So thanks to everyone involved Phase One is complete!   Now on to  Phase Two: Reliable Transportation.  We want to help her buy or lease a vehicle so that she can get to her job(s) and earn money to achieve her other goals. In LA this is very important.  Unfortunately in LA, getting around by automobile is the only viable means of transportation. Our goal now is to raise $2500.   The money will go towards, living costs, rent, transportation, moving costs, food, supplies and other misc. costs associated with getting back on one's feet.

Thank you!

HENRY AND SANDRA NEED YOUR HELP TONIGHT!
Hello everyone. I want to thank everyone who donated. Unfortunately we are in a bind. We have tried everything in our power to raise enough money to keep Henry and Sandra in a hotel while they wait for their apartment but we have not been able to raise enough to do it. Now, as of noon today, they have been kicked out of the hotel they were in.  Please if you, can donate tonight so we can get them back in a hotel.  It would really suck if they have to spend mothers day on the streets.  Please if you read this don't ignore it. We really need YOUR help. If not you who, if not now when.  If we all work together we can help them to a better life.
