The Story

Leviathan has done everything he's ever been asked willingly to the best of his ability.  He and Anna found each other 3 years ago, truly a match made in heaven.  On Labor Day, 2013, we got the dreaded call that he was down and couldn't get up.  But he did get up and he fought his way back through months of rehab for a badly torn hamstring muscle.  Levi is nothing if not a fighter.

Now just as he's back to work with his beloved Anna, a huge bladder stone has made its presence known.  The only option is surgery.  Levi is scheduled for bladder surgery at the New England Equine Surgical and Medical Center in Dover, NH.

We have covered his expenses so far but we're short for this surgery.  The bladder surgery is estimated at $3500 to $4000 plus trailering to and from Dover.  Possible nonlifethreatening complications could easily put the total closer to $5000.  We can scrape together $3000 but, honestly, I do not know where we'll find the other $2000.  The $3000 is a significant hit to our basic living budget putting us behind on a number of expenses.  I hate to ask but if you can help we would be very grateful.
Thank you.

Fundraiser Updates

Finally, time to update and thank everyone who helped us take care of Levi.
Levi came home Tuesday via a long and challenging trip.  I think we proved that we will, "climb the highest mountain" for that guy.  He's so worth it.

The surgery was more difficult because of hie prior surgeries for bladder stones but Dr. Davis and Dr. Secor from New England Equine Surgical and Medical Center did a wonderful job of it!  Poor Levi is walking through one more, hopefully, last, recovery period.  Beth McCauslan took the first shift handwalking him on his first morning home.  Thank you, Beth.  We were beat after getting home at midnight the night before.

Levi has quite a bit of swelling/edema but that will work itself out.  Other than that, he's doing very, very well.  We'll hand walk him for a few weeks.  If all goes as planned Anna should be able get back on for light work around the first of April.

We could not have done this without the love and support of everyone who has contributed.  Our bill came in at a bit over $4800 plus travel, including an extra $220 for truck rental when our truck broke down the morning we were leaving to pick Levi up.  Any additional contributions will be greatly appreciated.  We will honor your help by paying it forward when the next opportunity presents itself.

As these things go, Levi's bill has reached $4600.  With the trailering cost, we're over $5000.  We really need some help with the last $2000.  Thank you.

Levi is in surgery now.  He's doing well.  We get to sit right outside the operating room and watch.  Very cool.
