Please help me to raise much needed funds for Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue (EGLR
) so they can continue to nurse back to health, rehabilitate and find safe, loving and forever homes for hounds that come into their care.
I am walking up Mount Snowdon on Saturday 27th June this year. I will be going up the Pyg Track and coming down the Miners Track. I have done hill walking before, but not Mountain stuff and I have a fear of heights so the walk is going to present some personal challenges along the route.EGLR
are currenly caring for many hounds through a small network of foster homes and volunteers. Some hounds can never be re-homed due to the trauma they have gone through and stay with EGLR for the rest of their years as Sponsor dogs.
I am raising funds to help all the many hound
s that come into EGLR's care. Here are some of the hounds being cared for just now - Mr Moon
. Mr Moon,
described by EGLR as "he is one special bubba". He is an elderley hound who was found as a stray with a very nasty wound on his front paw. Sadly EGLR were to late to save Mr Moon's paw and the vet had to amputate his front leg. He is very down in the dumps just now following his operation and needs lots of medication and TLC to recouperate and get him enjoying life again.Dixie
, another elderly hound was found dumped in a woods tied to a tree. How can anyone do this :( :(. Scarlett
, was found as a stray heavily pregnant. Since being taken in by EGLR Scarlett has given birth to six gorgeous pups. Mum and pups are needing food and constant care whilst EGLR find them loving, safe and forever homes.
I came across EGLR when we were looking to adopt another rescue dog. We adopted Otis from EGLR and brought him to Unst, in The Shetland Islands to live with us all. Later on Otis developed cancer on his front leg and had his leg and shoulder amputated. He made a remarkable recovery and lived life to the full as a Tripawd. Sadly the cancer returned, this time in his lungs and we had no choice but to make the very hard decison to let him go :(.
I am doing the Mount Snowdon walk to raise much needed funds for EGLR and in memory of our Otis.
