For those who are unfamiliar with the world of crowdfunding but intrigued by its potential to raise funds for meaningful causes, here is a helpful outline for crafting a successful fundraiser on YouCaring.
Four simple steps to create a campaign
1. Log In or Create Account
First, YouCaring will prompt you to either sign in or create an account. If you don’t already have an account, you can sign up via Facebook or fill in the necessary details yourself.
2. Create Fundraiser
The next page of the set-up process is where you will begin to build the body of your fundraiser, which is separated into three parts.
Set Your Goal
In the first portion of this page, you will be asked to decide the type of currency for your donations as well as your desired goal amount. This amount can be changed at any time during your campaign. Note that currency cannot be changed.
Identify Your Fundraiser
You will be prompted to give your fundraiser a title. Try to be both informative and creative with the name to easily inform potential donors about who and what the fundraiser is for. This part will also ask you to include the names of the organizer and beneficiary. We recommend that you use full names for both. Then you will need to pick a category relevant to your fundraiser, YouCaring provides eleven categories to choose from. Finally, indicate the location where your fundraiser is based.
Tell Your Story
The last portion of this page invites you to add photos and videos. High-quality images and videos pack the most punch. The final portion is a space for you to type in your fundraiser description—in other words, to tell your story. Note that before moving on to the next page of the process, you have the choice to make your fundraiser private.
3. Collect Your Donations
In order to properly receive donations, the third page of the process requires you to verify that you have a U.S. bank account and a Social Security number. If you are located outside of the U.S. or Canada, please select “PayPal” as your payment processor.
4. Share Your Fundraiser
After clicking the “confirm” button, you will be taken to the final page of the process, where you can share your fundraiser via your social media channels and email to spread the word about your campaign. Encourage others to share as well. Remember that every share can generate $37. Multiply that by hundreds or thousands of shares, and you will be on your way to fundraising success.
