The S.T.A.R.S. Dance Co. (The competitive team of D.A.N.C.E., Inc.) which is comprised of 25 dancers ages 4-18 have done a PHENOMENAL job this year. Although this was many of our team members FIRST YEAR of dance training, they excelled at each competition they attended this year! Because of their hard work, our AMAZING dancers have been given a GREAT opportunity this year!

Although many of our dancers come from at risk neighborhoods and from homes where they would not be able to afford competitive dance training (almost 75% of our students receive financial assistance to participate),here at D.A.N.C.E. we try to give out students all the opportunities they would have at any other dance studio.  We created our S.T.A.R.S. Dance Company (SDC) to allow our students the chance to compete, travel, take master classes and become accustomed to the professional dance world.  This year SDC traveled to three different competitions, including one in Frankenmuth, MI, a dance convention and a variety of master classes.  At each of the competitions every routine we entered placed in the TOP TEN of their categories and age divisions with many 1ST PLACE OVERALL HIGH SCORE awards.

At our final competition of the season, out of several hundred entries from other studios, we received one of only six “GOLDEN TICKETS” given out.  As this occasion is such an honor we would love to be able to take our team this August.  But in order to be able to do this we are going to need help! The trip (August 3rd-9th) will cost approximately $1,000/dancer. This will cover food, lodging, transportation, competition fees, and the opportunity to experience dance in New York, where they will be able to attend a Broadway Show, visit Juilliard, and take classes at some of the most prestigious dance schools in America, including: The Broadway Dance Center & Alvin Ailey School of Dance. We TRULY APPRECIATE any support that you are able to provide...NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL! Even if you are unable to donate, we would appreciate you just spreading the word to help us in our efforts! THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT! Be sure to follow our page to stay up-to-date with our trip!

MORE INFO ABOUT D.A.N.C.E., Inc. (www.everyonelovesdance.com)

D.A.N.C.E. (Developing And Nurturing Community Empowerment – est. 2007) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to impacting the lives of youth, their families, and their communities through the performing arts. Our goal is to provide affordable high quality arts training to youth ages 3-18 without financial  barriers. Since being founded in 2007 we have grown to reach hundreds of youth in the Detroit and Lansing areas each year! At D.A.N.C.E., we believe in training the whole individual; all of our participants, who are referred to as S.T.A.R.S. (Students Taking Active Roles in Society) are held to a high standard in a fun, family like environment. Our Dance Training Programs provide our S.T.A.R.S. with rigorous, quality training in multiple styles of dance, including: ballet, jazz, acrobatics, tap, hip hop, modern, and more. In 2009, after recognizing the need to provide pre-professional performance opportunities and training to our advanced participants, we started S.T.A.R.S. Dance Company (SDC), a national award winning dance team comprised of dancers ages 4-18. Members of the SDC have been able to travel across the country to train and compete without financial barriers. Besides just training in dance, our S.T.A.R.S. are provided with free academic coaching to help them maximize their academic potential and are encouraged to become active within their community through community service opportunities. Since being founded in 2007, we have never turned a child down due to the financial status of the family. We need your help to ensure that we are able to provide this ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME opportunity to our dancers! NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL! Please share!
