Hello all you lovely, lovely humans. My dear friend and now-infamous perpetrator of countless cancer cell holocausts, Jacob Bruggman, is at this point well over halfway through his originally scheduled chemotherapy treatments, and he had the following update to share today via his personal Facebook account:
"As a number of you know, today was the day I got a status update on how I'm responding to treatment. It's easier to update all of you this way, so I apologize for it being a bit impersonal. The cancer in my torso has responded well to treatment. So that's the good news. The cancer in my shoulders and neck is being a bit more stubborn. We'll continue the chemotherapy for the next three rounds, then re-evaluate to see if another method is necessary. Thank you again for all the support through this process."
The post in question was subsequently the recipient of numerous (albiet bittersweetly gifted) "likes" along with a handful of comments attempting to express solidarity in an irreverantly humorous manner, to which in turn Jake graciously responded with "likes" of his own.
In summary; while positive results have indeed been attained, there is still further mass cellicide to be revelously committed in the preservation of Jacob's gifted mind and aesthetically sublime body. So feel free to visit https://www.youcaring.com/thefoundationforabetterjake and offer your continued monetary support to our ongoing campaign of cellularly-discriminate slaughter.
Last Wednesday's benefit show was a smashing success; all told, The Good Wives
were able to raise over $2,000 at The Crocodile's door, with well over 150 persons in attendance. Jake was pretty overwhelmed with the turnout from friends and acquaintences and who came from all over Washington state alongside Seattlites to lend their ears (and their wallets) in support. With press coverage from Seattle Weekly
, The Stranger, KEXP
, Inside Right Wrist
, The Seattle Times and performances by Michael Lerner of Telekinesis
and Blackheart Honeymoon
; The Emerald City reminded itself what communities are really for.
The following Friday, Jake underwent his second chemotherapy treatment, which he thus far appears to have taken in stride.

If You Stage It, They Will Come (And Donate)
ATTENTION SEATTLITES: Jake's band, The Good Wives
, are putting on a benefit show next Wednesday, January 23rd @8pm
at none other than the legendary Crocodile
where luminaries such as Neutral Milk Hotel, R.E.M., Dinosaur Jr., and Cheap Trick have come before them (get tickets here
). They've got Michael Benjamin Lerner of Telekinesis
lined up to play a solo set and of course, Jake and The Good Wives will perform in what is likely to be their last show for the remainder of Jake's chemo treatment.
So come, raise your glasses (whilst simultaneously dropping your cash) in this communal celebration of life, love, and everlasting contempt for cancer, cancer's children, and its children's children, and its children's children's children.
This Isn't A Crime Wave; IT'S ENEMY OCCUPATION!"
Quick update: Jake will be undergoing his first chemo treatment today.
Cancer thought it could move in and take over without anyone putting up a fight.

So Jake’s chemo treatments commence this Friday, the 11th; and not a moment too soon because he’s been growing understandably anxious to begin mistreating his unwelcome corporal guest(s). He remains in good spirits despite feeling generally sore and tired most days and the somewhat unserendipitous decision of his car that now would be a splendid time to break down.
He and his band, The Good Wives, have conspired with other local Seattle bands to throw a spectacular benefit concert a couple weeks from now at the famous Crocodile (formerly The Crocodile Café, get your tickets here!). Have a look at this cheeky promo video the guys recently put together.
Thanks to the remarkable generosity of 35 real human beings (and real heroes) we’re now only $45 away from meeting 1/5th of our target goal of $15,000! However it won’t be long now before the funds we’ve raised thus far will start getting sapped by Jake’s out-of-pocket prescription drug bills, so if you were dissuaded from donating last month by the burden of holiday expenses, I’ve some good news! - You can still do your part this month to preserve this most noble of creatures from a premature extinction.
***SPECIAL LADIES-ONLY DONOR BONUS!!!***
Because chemotherapy often carries with it the unfortunate side-effect of sterility and as the cost of preserving sperm is somewhat prohibitive (sacred as though each one may be); for the remainder of this week only, Jake has generously offered his services to those females whose longstanding dream has been to bear his progeny in exchange for the low, low price of only $200 American dollars! Why endure the costly and time-consuming bureaucratic headaches of adoption when you can have your very own Jake Jr. in just 9 months time?
The aforementioned proposition was made without the consent of Jacob Bruggman and the author of this update assumes no legal liability or responsibility to reimburse any donations made under the assumption that the services described therein would actually be rendered in exchange for monetary compensation.
