Normally I'm not big on donating money for a charity. Even though I don't know Stefon Alexander personally I do know of his stage persona P.O.S. I first saw him by chance, performing while waiting for Gym Class Heroes to headline at The House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio. That was at least 5 years ago, but I have owned every album he's come up with since. I think that a lot of artist simply make music just to ride a wave of income, no matter what the quality of their work may or may not be. I know P.O.S. isn't one of those artist. He doesn't just make music, he makes statements. He makes a message and he delivers it with a creative zeal that only the highest levels of hard work and genius can manufacture. I've been through plenty of low points in my life since that House of Blues show 5-ish years ago, everyone has. But anytime I feel down I usually wind up driving somewhere while vibing to Half-Cocked Concepts, Let it Rattle, and a myriad of other terrific tracks that came out of the mind of this genius. So, even though I'm not even close to Mr. Charity, I do feel that there are a few lives out there worth reaching out to help in a time of need. And while I've only seen Stefon Alexander's face once from across a room and will most likely never see it again, I do know that P.O.S. has helped me in my times of need and I'm beyond glad to pitch in. Get better soon, Stefon. Don't go spending this money on a teddy bear...and a tazer. ;)

Stef, I once went to see my favorite band of all time, The Velvet Teen, touring with Minus the Bear, a little prog rock trio called Russian Circles, and much to my surprise, some dude with a mic and little else, that opened his set saying 'Yeah, I bet you all motherfuckers didn't know you were gettin a rap show tonight'. I always appreciate the opportunity to experience new music, and you opened me up to a world that I had, shamefully, dismissed out of hand years prior. Between the eclectic mix of indie rock, prog, and hip-hop, and the efforts and stage presence of all involved, yourself most of all, I can comfortably say that it was the best show I've ever been to. I've been a fan of all your work since, and shared it with as many people as I could. I greatly look forward to the next time I get to see you perform. As an aside, I lost a friend, Dillon Hayes, to kidney disease many years ago. He was 10 years old. He was an extreme case, and everything possible was done for him, but he didn't make it. I'm grateful that you are not in such dire straights, and that you will be fine, but I don't ever want hear "If only something more could have been done". I wish, individually, I could do more than my contribution, but fortunately, as I'm sure you know, there is a community around you that is stronger than the sum of its parts.

Sorry I couldn't donate more, get well soon . the album is the best I've heard this year and I cant wait for you to be healthy enough to tour on it.

My dad raised me and my two brothers on a road musicians salary. 5 years ago he had to have heart and brain surgery within 3 months of each other. Needless to say, his bill were quite spendy and the lack of benefits for doing what you love didn't help. The community (Missoula MT) came out for him and held a number of benefits to help with medical expenses. Hopefully this little bit helps you in your journey.
