In 2005, Gary was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow.
Over the past eight years, Gary has had ups and downs with his health. His treatments have included multiple rounds of chemotherapy and many, many blood transfusions. He has endured eleven bone marrow biopsies and multiple treatments. But, if you have ever met him and asked how he is doing, his answer is always, "Great!" His body and faith have been strong. In June he had a bone marrow transplant.
Gary's treatment has included intense chemotherapy, lots of bone marrow biopsies, over a hundred units of blood transfused and the bone marrow transplant. The costs associated with having a bone marrow transplant are great. In addition to the medical expenses, the doctors have advised Gary that he will be unable to work for four months to a year.
All donations will go directly to help Gary with his recovery. We cannot express how much your help and contributions mean. Thank you!

We chose “Hope on. Journey on.” as both the theme of this page and our family motto through Gary’s journey. This beautiful saying comes from a talk given by a leader of our church, Jeffrey R. Holland.
