Please be in prayer for the Norton family. Katelyn is home and recovering well. She is having a bit of trouble with the incision on her abdomen. It is not healing as nicely as we had hoped. They will be leaving in a week and a half for the second surgery. The muscle will be taken from the leg for the second graft. As far as emotionally, Katelyn is overwhelmed with having to do another surgery. As only imaginable, she gets a little weepy thinking of the enormity of the situtation.Share This Update!
As far as the rest of the family one challenge after another is mounting. Mike has hurt his knees and will be having surgery in the morning. He will be out of work for 6-8 weeks because he will not be able to walk as his job requires. This is putting an additional financial strain on the family.
And speaking of additional financial strains, the other night at softball practice with Emily the water pump went out on their Suburban. It is still sitting at the softball park needing fixed.
And just when all of that sounds too much to bear, the air conditioning at their house went out!
If there is any way for you to give another contribution please consider it. And please get the word out the best you can to help with this fundraiser. But most importantly, pray for miracles and God's grace for this family.

Katelyn is out of surgery and in ICU. It was tough on her coming out of the anesthesia, and she is in a lot of pain. They needed muscle to implant on her skull so they took some from her abdomen. We thank The Lord that she is breathing on her own. There was more tumor than they originally thought, but the surgeon feels she did well surgically. Please pray for minimal swelling in her brain. The next few days are very important.
Thank you all for your prayers and support for Katelyn and her sweet family!

Last week Katelyn and Debbie returned from their trip to Iowa to see the specialists. The appointments were informative, supportive, and encouraging. Share This Update!
The doctors in Iowa would like to take a different approach as far as surgery this time. They sit down as a group with the head of each department involved and present Katelyn's case. That will be done this week and then they will inform the family of the best treatment plan for her.
They are estimating 2 to 3 surgeries approximately 3 to 4 weeks apart. The reason it has to be done in two to three surgeries is they will make one incision in front of her ear and one incision behind her ear to be able to have the best perspective on the tumor. They cannot do these two surgeries at the same time without compromising the viability of her ear, due to blood flow. They will also go in in the same area where her last surgery was done and do a few things to try and relieve her headaches. In her original surgery the bone was removed and replaced with a titanium plate, they will remove the plate because it is directly on her skull causing muscle to grow directly on the dura, which surrounds the brain. The doctor feels this is most likely causing most of her headaches and not feeling well. So they will remove the plate and put "brain cement" and mesh over that area then replace the plate so there is somewhat of a cushion in between. Most likely, for preventative reasons, she will have a surgery prior to any of this putting a screw in a strategical place in her skull for optimum success. It is estimated that this will all begin with in the next month.
In two weeks Katelyn will spend a few days at M.D. Anderson in Houston with an Adolescent Neuro/oncologist. This doctor will give the family the best options as far as radiation and what the best approach should be, as well as more tests. Debbie was told that radiation in the brain is very tricky due to her age. There are not many long-term studies of several different radiations in the brain with someone Katelyn's age.
Please pray for Katelyn, for the family, for the very best possible outcome, perfect healing, and the skills of the doctors. Debbie had a very comforting feeling while in Iowa with their knowledge of her tumor. She feels that Iowa is exactly where she needs to be, and they thank God for opening the doors.
The insurance company is frustrating. One day Debbie thinks she is making headway and the next day it seems to change depending who she speeks with. Iowa is definitely out of their network so they will be paying a 70%/30% split at best. 30% of the surgeries, radiation treatments, tests, and doctor appointments is going to be very expensive not to mention the travel to and from Iowa.
This is very overwhelming to Katelyn having to go through this again. Please lift her up as often as you can and spread the word regarding this fundraiser!
The Norton family would like to thank all the supporters for their generosity. The Lord has blessed them through your contributions, and they are already supplying needed funds that will lead to great progress!Share This Update!
Last week Debbie felt moved by the Holy Spirit to pick up the phone and make an appointment with the doctor in Iowa who specializes in Katelyn's type of brain tumor. She made this appointment based on faith that everything would work out because she believes and trusts in our Heavenly Father.
Amazingly, the doctor's office had an appointment for Thursday, April 10th and she took it! Debbie and Katelyn will be on their way to Iowa tomorrow to meet with four different specialists. Additionally, they told her she would need to give them $7,000 when she arrived to start this process. We have raised $6,415 to date. Praise God!
I am asking all of you for prayers for safe travels for Debbie and Katelyn, a course of treatment and perfect healing for Katelyn, and continued blessings for our fundraising efforts.
With God all things are possible!
