We are organizing a fundraiser for Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) to raise funds for transplant-related expenses for children like 9-year old AnnaRose Van Sciver, who is currently waiting for a heart transplant. AnnaRose was born with a rare heart condition known as Hypo-plastic Left Heart and Double Outlet Right Ventricle. The left side of her heart was underdeveloped causing the right side to do the work of both, with both the aorta and pulmonary artery being on the right side.
AnnaRose had numerous surgeries in her short life. She had her first surgery when she was only 2 weeks old in Syracuse. She returned home to North Tonawanda six weeks later, only to get sick within days. She was then admitted to Buffalo Children’s Hospital. She was eight months old when she had her second surgery and 2 months shy of her fifth birthday when she had her third. Both surgeries were in Rochester.
AnnaRose was born and raised in North Tonawanda for most of her life. Her parents, Jim and Cean, decided to move to Florida in September 2011, hoping the climate would be more beneficial for her. They currently reside in St. Cloud. AnnaRose was placed on the bottom of the Heart Transplant List in March 2013. On June 3, she was admitted to Shands Hospital for Children at the University of Florida in Gainesville. When she was admitted to the hospital, she was immediately moved to the top of the transplant list. She is now first in line for a heart transplant when a perfect match is found.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to COTA to assist families like AnnaRose’s with transplant-related expenses.
