Lex touched many during his brief, yet memorable time. While his life was short, many that were touched by him understand that the quality of existence can far exceed the quantity of time in which you live it.

Although Lex was very small, with less energy than other children his age, he possessed heroic strength, love, and the ability to overcome incredible odds. His excitement for life led us to believe that each day is a wondrous thing, and an opportunity to create lasting memories while enjoying what it has to offer.

He loved Superheroes, watching the Avengers, The Justice League, and even Buzz Lightyear in their daily pursuit to put evil in its place. There were often days where he was Spiderman for breakfast, Batman for lunch, and Captain America for dinner with short stops as other various heroes in between. Nothing pleased him more than taking a handful of heroes and going off to do battle, protecting the citizens of earth.

With Lex’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him everyday, his life was full of fun and laughter worth remembering. It has been a privilege to be his parents. We are happy Lex’s sister Nancy met him and hope she will hold dear the memory of his amazing spirit.

Lex leaves behind many, including one Great Grandparent, four grandparents, ten Uncles, nine Aunts, and fourteen Cousins. His favorite people were his sister, Nancy, and his cousins, Landon and Lowell.

This fundraiser is to help with his medical costs, and give those who wish to donate to the family a location to do so.

Thank you all so much for your love and support.

After Lex's death with what all he went through and the conditions he was born with, it didn't even occur to us that he would be a candidate for any type of organ donation.

But we were called and left about 6 messages overnight and Steve returned the call early the next morning after Lex's death to give permission for Lex's corneas to be donated.

We just recently received a letter that his corneas have been successfully transplanted.

We are glad that Lex could help someone else's vision in this way.

I can't imagine the depths of the rollercoaster you've been on with Lex. I pray that you will find comfort and healing in our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, who Lex is now with in heaven! Luke 18:15-17 [ The Little Children and Jesus ] People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

I wish I could do more. Our own struggles at this time have really limited our ability to help others. Much love and prayer for you.

I saw this on Jill's FB page. Cassie (Cleo) and Steve, I am so very sorry for your loss. Lex was such a vibrant, beautiful boy. I am thankful that his corneas will live on, as his sprit also will, in the hearts and minds of those that loved him the most. Peace be with you.

Nanna
Love and miss you so much.

I am so glad I got to be Lex's dad. The picture of him shows him in his little zoo keeper's uniform at the San Diego zoo. I am very thankful for Make A Wish Foundation helping give Lex and family a wonderful time in San Diego the month before his surgery. The volunteers are awesome. Also I would ask those that can to consider donating blood at their local Red Cross and associated blood drives. Lex used up a lot of blood products during his surgeries and recoveries over the years. That blood, fresh frozen plasma, packed red blood cells, and platelets were there because of people giving blood. As a type O negative blood type, I have started doing double red blood cell donations in memory of Lex, can only be done once in 112 days, but it helps out a lot since I am the universal donor type for red blood cells. Others blood types are universal plasma or platelet donors.
