Noah was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 5 months old. CF is an inherited chronic progressive disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and digestive system. CF causes thick sticky mucous in the lungs creating the perfect environment for molds and bacteria to grow. Over time these infections become harder to treat as they destroy the lungs. Noah has never been able to "cough up" any of the mucous that builds up in his lungs. We do treatments with a vest twice a day that "shakes" or vibrates his lungs to help loosen the mucous and keep from attaching. This bed would help tremendously in that it would "shake or vibrate" him continuously while he sleeps. 8-10 hours of sleep without movement at all can cause problems for him. But if the bed were keep his lungs "vibrating" or active, it would help prevent some of the complications from the mucous.
Here is an article where we got the idea for this bed, and proof that it will help greatly. In just two short months of sleeping on this bed, this young boy in the article has had an increase in lung capacity of 8%.
