Meet Yogi. He is a 10 year old, 10 lb yorkie who came into UYR on 01/10/2017. Bless his sweet little heart – the only history we have on him is that he was found wandering the streets last year by a Good Samaritan. They saved his life and gave him a warm bed and good food, but circumstances prevented them from continuing to care for this little fella, so they surrendered him to UYR.
Prior to having a much-needed dental, Yogi had labs done, which indicated that he had Pancreatitis. After several positive tests and multiple rounds of antibiotics, it was decided that only an ultrasound could definitively tell us what was going on with this sweet boy. Yogi has remained a champ during all the many dogtor visits and continues to give kisses to one and all – he has such an endearing and gentle disposition, even in the face of adversity.
The ultrasound indicated that Yogi’s pancreas showed no inflammation – BUT, he does have bladder stones, which need to be surgically removed. Since arriving in UYR, he has had very frequent urination and now we know why. This has likely caused Yogi frequent pain for a while, but this amazing little boy never complains. He will also have radiographs done on his front legs during his surgery, as he has some undiagnosed lameness which causes his front legs to fold up under him. This may be a congenital deformity, or it could potentially be an old injury that wasn’t surgically corrected.
Yogi’s bladder stone surgery is scheduled for 02/28 and is estimated to cost $1,000. His current vetting expenses are already over $1,800. This little fella is a survivor and his happy personality and lovable demeanor in the face of multiple medical issues is truly inspiring. UYR is asking all dog lovers everywhere to rally around Yogi by praying that all goes well with his surgery, and by sharing his story in the hopes of raising much-needed funds for this surgery. This little boy has never given up hope, and UYR won’t either. We believe in him and are determined to make his life a long pain-free one. Can you help us reach our goal? Every penny donated will go towards his upcoming surgeries. UYR thanks you, and if Yogi could talk, he would thank you, too.
