We are pleased to announce that the second annual ‘Playing for the Cure: Brainstormin’ will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Ballroom at The Outer Space in Hamden, Connecticut at 6:30p.m.
All proceeds from ticket costs and raffles benefit the Yale Brain Tumor Center. In 2014, our inaugural concert was held and was a huge success. The event was fun, lively and inspirational to all who were in attendance. Joseph Piepmeier, the Nixdorff-German Chair in Neurosurgery and Chief of the Section of Surgical Neuro-oncology at the Yale Brain Tumor Center announced the creation of The Cusano Family Brain Tumor Fund. As he stated in his remarks, this fund will be used to assist researchers in their mission to take research efforts, such as developing methods of delivering medicine and chemotherapy to areas of the brain that are otherwise unreachable through traditional surgery into clinical trials. We are confident that through our collaborative efforts, we can play an instrumental role in helping doctors in finding more effective treatments for those facing a brain tumor diagnosis and providing better care in the future, but also providing hope for the patients, families and caregivers.
The inspiration for the creation of the event is Chris Cusano’s 7- year battle with a central neurocytoma. You can read more about his journey via his blog located at http://www.greymattersblog.com.
Thanks to our sponsors, we donated $10,100 in 2014 and hope to surpass that figure this year!
This year's event features Goodnight Blue Moon, a successful bluegrass-meets-indie rock band and Broca's Area, recent winners of the Connecticut Music Awards for Best New Band and Best R&B/Soul/Funk.
Tickets to this year’s event are $15.00 each (survivors are free!). If you would like to purchase tickets, please feel free to e-mail Chris at [email protected].
We would love to see you at the event, but if you cannot attend and would still like to make a donation, please feel free to use this website to do so. Again, all proceeds go directly to the Yale Brain Tumor Center. Your donation will make a profound impact and is greatly appreciated.
We cannot thank you enough for partnering with us to show your support!
