The Story

Yasini “Yacn” Biggo of Tanzania is currently studying law at The University of Dar Es Salaam. In his last year for his bachelor's degree at the university, a forward and innovative thinker, Yacn is studying in hopes of becoming a successful lawyer who can help the woman and children of Tanzania, and of his village who are isolated in society. His time at the university has been funded by generous crowdfunding that has allowed him to continue his education without taking loans from his already impoverished village.

Yacn’s original goal was to provide for his family. He is the only son of five children and feels responsible for providing for his mother and four sisters. His parents rely on unreliable small business ventures, and Yacn wanted to give them a comfortable life. It was after he left his village in Tanzania, when he realized that he could also help his community. It started with his family, but now he aspires to help the women and children of Tanzania who are neglected. He hopes to help those who are denied their rights of owning property, inheritance, work and live in liberty but instead live in extreme poverty.

Our mission is to help fund his education. With the drive and ambition he has shown thus far, he will achieve amazing things in his community. The first step for Yacn is to finish his degree, so he can then turn his focus towards helping others. Every year has been a struggle to fund his education and other expenses. We hope to provide enough that the financial burden is lifted so he can better focus on his studies. Tuition, fees, books, and boarding—we hope to cover as much as we can. We would hate to see Yacn’s potential wasted because of the costly price of an invaluable education.

We believe in his ability to effect and promote progress within his community. If it were not for the donations received through Aura’s House and other generous individuals, he would not have completed these past years in University. He has come so far, and with your help we can assure he finishes what we all started together. With your donations we can help a great mind finish the first step in making a difference in the world.

Please consider sharing Yacn's fund-raiser or donating even 2 euros. If you wish to donate in USD$, CAD or GBP please send your donation directly through Paypal.com to [email protected] using the gift to friends or family option to reduce fees and make a note that it is for Yacn. Without this funding he cannot continue his schooling. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Thank-you for reading and have a great day!

Yacn's school money is due in October. PLEASE- EVEN IF YOU CAN GIVE JUST 2 EUROS IT WILL HELP. All donations add up. He has no other way to stay in University and he has worked so hard- even through having malaria several times. He is a good boy who really cares about others. Thanks so much to everyone who has shared or donated so far! Please- his dreams will be dashed. Warmest Regards, Heather LaBonte Efthymiou

We fund-raised for Yacn's education last year and he has studied very hard. We are fund-raising for his next year as he has always made good on his promises to work hard to get his degree. He wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable women and children once he is established as a lawyer. He sees the inequality in his country and he wants to make change. Here is an update from Yacn: I'm just taking this opportunity to report that I successfully completed my end semester exams for my third year of university. That said I'm done with my third year. just waiting for the results which I have no doubt that I will pass and successfully go to last year of university. I'm taking this opportunity also to thank you all for everything you have done for me. Without you I couldn't be here. I would maybe be at my home village. Now my village will have a graduate in law and, ultimately, a lawyer. You are such great people and I am so proud of you. Regards, Yasin Biggo.
