The Story

The DC IWW's Women Trans and Femme Caucus is hosting a 20 hour street medic training in Fall 2018. As we would like this training to be inclusive and freely available to all active local organizers who are interested in becoming a street medic or developing their emergency response skills, we are asking for donations to help us cover the cost to rent the venue and compensate interpreters, volunteers, and trainers.

This event will be updated as we get nearer to our goal and to the event itself, so please stay posted!

Some big news!
Since YouCaring has been bought out by GoFundMe and will no longer be available as its own platform, we are moving our fundraiser to a new hosting service.
Thank you all for supporting this organizing effort and for helping us get this far! We hope you will continue to follow along with us as we close in on our goal for an accessible and successful medic training!

Hey Folks!

Sorry for the late update! Since the Emergency First Aid Training in May, we have been approaching the planning of our upcoming training with greater focus on accommodations and accessibility. In that vein, we are working currently to solidify a more accessible space for the 20 hour training, as well as reaching out to ASL interpreters.

We are also now planning to hold our full 20 hour in the first weekend of October to avoid conflicting with any holidays or exam schedules.

Due to this pushing back the date again, one of our trainers is offering short Protest Health and Safety trainings for local organizers to supplement these skills in the upcoming months.

These trainings will be closed and available only to local groups interested in organizing these events. Interested groups can email [email protected] for more details.

Thank you all for your patience and support!

Hello Supporters

We have some regrettable news: after reckoning over a series of communication failures and capacity issues, we've decided to postpone the 20 hour training until August, when we can make proper accommodations to all parties and honor needs of both our trainers and trainees.

In lieu of the training this weekend, we will host a 3 hour emergency first aid training from 9am-12p on Saturday May 5th to support emergency response. We also will use time in the afternoon to hold a training for folks who have already had a 20 hour training to support our second attempt at making this training a reality. The second training, while not open to everyone, exists to establish clearer norms and expectations for trainings in the future.

20 hour training are an immense amount of work. We want this to be the best training possible and in order to deliver that, we need to take a step back, reassess, and come back refreshed with both a clearer vision and a better solidified sense of logistical needs. We deeply apologize for this last minute decision, and we understand that it impacts all of you, our trainees, and our volunteers. We hope that this emergency first aid training will suffice in the meantime and we look forward to an excellent training in a couple months.

If you have any further questions, please contact me at [email protected] We apologize again for the inconvenience.
