Friends, family, and people I had never met have asked me since my home flooded what they could do for me. This is it - support me in making Christmas a little brighter this year for women who are in shelter.
Last year my company, Dedicated to Empowering Women (DEW) delivered 600 gift-wrapped copies of Too Much Gold to Flush to women’s shelters. This year thanks to Hurricane Harvey, I joined the ranks of the homeless, so I understand how gratifying it is for strangers to show up with gifts. Also because of Harvey, I have 3,000 fewer copies of my book, Too Much Gold to Flush, although I am determined to use the remaining 680 copies to let women in shelters know that they are loved.
Too Much Gold to Flush is ideal for women in shelters because within its inspiring pages, I, Pat Grissom, share my shift from victim to victor following an emotionally abusive marriage. This year we are also gifting handmade “security” blankets that are sewn by my 86-year-old mom, Myrethia Wood. Over the years, she has donated about 600 blankets to shelters.
Here is what your donation provides the shelter as well as the “thank-you” gift(s) DEW will send you for your support:

My greatest blessing from this experience is the awesome kindness of strangers. Providing Christmas gifts to women in shelters is my way of passing on that generosity and love. Please support me in this pay-it-forward project.
That’s what I consider true generosity: You give your all, and yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing. ~Simone de Beauvoir
