The Story

History, Integrity, Truth, Scripture. These four ideas are at the heart and center of the work of Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry. As a mission project of the American Association of Lutheran Churches, Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry's work is to provide on-site pastoral care to the students, staff, faculty, and administration of the collegiate communities in Columbia, Missouri. The Christian message is one of great historical importance. For almost 2000 years Christians have proclaimed freedom to prisoners of this sinful world through Jesus. It is part of the integrity of our message that we admit our own failings and challenges. We also realize that there is such a thing as objective truth. It's Christianity's willingness to explore truth and evaluate the claims of different world views which has historically pushed scientific, artistic, literary, and philosophical developments. Yet, Christians recognize that it is in Scripture alone that we find a definitive revelation of God and His Will. We bring this recognition of history, integrity, truth, and Scripture to the academic communities in Columbia, Missouri through on-site pastoral care, Bible discussion groups, and day-to-day friendships with people like those pictured above, in our international gatherings.
Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is funded by contributions from our supporters, such as the Wittenberg Door 300, our regular contributors. Last year our partners provided the basic operating expenses of this ministry. However, our staff did not receive any reimbursement of housing, medical care, or any salary. During 2018 we wish to add housing to the package. Please help bring on-site pastoral care to our academic communities. Please help us spread the good news of Jesus to the many nations represented in those communities. Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit organization. Your contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
Please remember us in prayer and encouragement as well. Our home on the Internet is at www.WittenbergCoMo.com. We are on Facebook at www.facebook.com/WittenbergCoMo and on Twitter @wittenbergcomo.

Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry is funded by the generous contributions of individuals, churches, and other groups who count on-site pastoral care for our collegiate communities as a priority.

April is going to be a very full month. As we are pushing toward the end of the academic year, I also have opportunities to tell three different congregations about the work of Wittenberg Door. From Deephaven Minnesota to Columbia Missouri, to Boonville, Missouri, then back to Columbia, the weekends promise to be fast-paced.

There's always more ministry to be done. As the financial support base grows we hope to spend more and more time caring for our academic communities. I hope you'll consider joining the Wittenberg Door 300 by committing to contributions on a regular basis. We can meet or exceed our budget with just three hundred regular donors. Will you be one?

In the meantime, we're on the road again, telling people about the opportunities on campus in Columbia and all around them.

Thanks for the help and support! With March comes Spring Break, when students flee the community, faculty and staff try to avoid appointments for a little while, and we all brace ourselves for the run up to the end of the academic year.

In campus ministry, we especially remember those who are unable to go away, for whatever reason. Many of our international scholars feel very far away from their family and friends. They have a little breathing room to feel the distance just now. So we try to be especially encouraging and care for them.

Meanwhile, we're starting to think about the opportunities we may have in the next academic year, as well as how to keep the big picture in mind.

Please consider supporting this work financially. Also, check out our website at www.wittenbergcomo.com for all the latest news. Share this with your friends and family, anyone who might be interested.

We're into the new lunar year. Many of our Chinese friends at Wittenberg Door Campus Ministry have been spending time celebrating this special occasion. Since we have gatherings to eat and practice English conversation, this Friday our Chinese friends are bringing their favorite foods. They will also be telling all about their favorite aspects of the new year.

God's love for people around the world and at all times is amazing. Please continue to pray for WDCM and contribute so we can continue bringing the good news of Christ and His Kingdom to our community.

Watch for our next newsletter coming out soon on www.wittenbergcomo.com
