Our History & Services:
The Winton Place Youth Center has proudly served the Winton Hills/Spring Grove area in Cincinnati, Ohio for 33 years. Our mission:
"Enable neighborhood children to make positive contributions to our large community--now and as adults"
Currently, WPYC serves 45-50 students per day. Our program offers homework assistance, tutoring and mentoring. Each month, we complete small, community service activities whether it is donating time, pennies or reading to the elderly! We make sure our youth get every tool they need to succeed in school, home and socially.
Our Need & Ask
Unfortunately, we are not immune to the lack of funding to youth programs and initiatives. In 2015, the City of Cincinnati cut funding to the ages of students we serve. That cut our annual revenue by 25%. Also, because we are a smaller youth center, we are often over by larger grantors. We have been able to continue operations due to the generosity of so many people who opened their hearts to us.
Over 80% of our youth come from single parent households.
During the 2016-2017 school year, 97% of our regular attending youth passed to the next grade.
From April 2016-April 2017, our students completed 335 hours of community service.
