Posted on July 10, 2017Posting a copy from my FB update just in case you missed it… I cannot thank everyone enough for contributing to this fundraiser, helping me raise much-needed funds for the care of the rescued animals at Wildwood! Y'all are my heros!!
"This might be longer than Matthew McConaughey's Oscar acceptance speech...
Firstly, I need to offer infinite thank-yous to my husband and children for the months of sacrifice they endured to accommodate my training; to my friends for the emotional support and faith in my ability to dig deep (not to mention listening to me talk about this event/running endlessly!), and even a few of you for running up hills with me; to my fellow volunteers at Wildwood for picking up my slack when I went out of town to train; to my mom for everything she still does and is despite my advanced age ;) ...
Yassine of Wy'east Wolfpack, my wise and patient sensei!! You laid out just the right amount of guidance, preparation in miles and elevation and attitude, without breaking me. And offering the invaluable reminder to run every mile with gratitude was in the end, perhaps, the most important, priceless advice!
Sean, your strength and optimism and fierce determination were with me every. single. step. I love you!!
The animals. I am so incredibly grateful to the following folks for helping me reach the $1000 donation goal for the rescued residents who call Wildwood Farm Sanctuary home: Sarah B., Ann, Julie, Glenn, Shauna, Jennifer, Kendra, Teresa, Amoreena, Kathleen, Sarah T-H, Ed, Steffi, Sparkle, Rita, and Christy. Y'all are awesome!
The race. I'm doing my best to not be melodramatic but I keep tearing up when I think of certain moments, and as I'm typing this... it's not to say there weren't some low points and hiccups and aches and pains, heat weighing down and running out of water halfway to the next aid station, etc., but overall it really was one of the best 12.5 hours of my life; breathtaking landscape the entire way, pains remaining bearable or subsiding before things could go dark, a 2nd wind at just the right time, volunteers' and other runners' camaraderie was the most perfect version of what I love so much about the trail running community... so with the help of all the aforementioned, and perhaps a little luck, that goal was met as well! 50 miles in under 13 hours! I'm still reeling from all of it!"

Thank you all so much for contributing to benefit Wildwood Farm Sanctuary, and inspiring me to do my best and then some no matter what the day throws my way! You're the most awesome virtual crew ever!! ❤️

Posted on May 21, 2017Oh my wow what a beautiful day at the Sun Mountain 100k/50k in the Methow Valley, WA! I made a last minute switch from participating in the 50k to running as the first loop sweep (50k) for the 100k. I still finished under 8 hours despite official biz slowdowns and had such a fun time as per usual at Rainshadow Running events. Feeling pretty good, dialing in those few last race day potential performance quirks and perks... and I have a new fav aid station snack: hummus/avocado tortilla rolls! Yum!
