Wild Buffalo Defense is a collective of indigenous and non-native organizers dedicated to seeing wild buffalo roam free on the plains and to protecting the treaty rights of native people to harvest buffalo. We use non-violent direct action to physically stop Yellowstone National Park’s continued slaughter of the last wild buffalo and raise awareness about the issue.
As a grassroots campaign performing direct action we need your support to keep our members out of the unjust legal system. We will be continually putting our bodies on the line to stop Yellowstone from slaughtering the last of the wild buffalo. The Yellowstone national parks service sends up to 1000 of the 4000 buffalo to slaughter every year. This tactic prevents wild buffalo populations from expanding to sustainable levels and repopulating the plains. Wild Buffalo Defence does not want to see any more buffalo killed by Yellowstone National Park. Since environmental law has failed to protect these herds, tactics such as non-violent direct action are necessary to prevent the deaths of any more of this rare and sacred species.
Our members are facing expensive legal fees for their work protecting the buffalo. We need resources for bail and ongoing jail support. Please support our work defending the buffalo, protecting treaty rights and bringing wild bison back to the plains!
