Rainsong Wildlife Rescue Center closed down 3 years ago and now there is nowhere for injured and orphaned wildlife to be sent for more than 100km. Factor in terrible roads and it's an 8-10 hour round trip that most people aren't willing to take. Monkeys, ocelots, parrots, anteaters and many other precious species are dying instead.
We're going to change that. Then we will tackle some grander issues like species extinction (by reproducing and releasing animals like the Scarlet Maccaw into areas where they no longer live, in part because of human settlement), or the insulation of power lines countrywide (number 1 cause of injured wildlife brought to rescue centers, especially monkeys!).
But we need your help!!
We've already built the necessary infrastructure to maintain financial stability as we have accommodation and classroom space for students and volunteers in place. But the animals need better habitats, an on-site vet clinic and some additional infrastructure in place so that we can receive our permits and begin to do this urgent work.
All in all, we need to build:
- On-site Vet clinic and quarantine space: $9,926.28
- Feeding station: Already Built Thanks to Your Donations!
- Several Animal Habitats: $15,275.14
- Additional septic tank: $2,377.95
- Perimeter fence: $7,929.66
- Pathway: $2,777.05
- Total need: $38,286.09
In the interest of transparency, all of our costs as well as what has been spent can be found on the following SPREADSHEET
. It is broken down into what is desirable and what is necessary. This fundraiser is a combination of the two, but we will do what is necessary if that is all we can raise.
Although just sending money will alleviate our most pressing concerns, it would also help us if you would come to Costa Rica to volunteer. Come help us make a positive difference in the world!
