Westside German Shepherd Rescue is sad to say good-bye to a wonderful man and dedicated volunteer, William Murray.
For years every Saturday morning Bill would spend hours in the Bakersfield shelter and then drive all the dogs he could fit into his truck, loaded with crates down to the rescue . Sometime we got 12 adults and a litter of puppies all kind of bedraggled and overwhelmed. It was a sight to see, often people adopted the newly arriving dogs, there was something so heartfelt to see them coming out of the truck knowing that their lives had just been spared.
Many of you probably have one of the dogs Bill brought us! All were incredible dogs! Bill had struggled with heart problems and died too young. He had the biggest heart and always gave the most wonderful big bear hugs!
In Bill’s honor we are raising money to buy some new kennels the dogs so badly need ($800 each), each will have a plaque with a dedication to Bill! We know he would have loved knowing he was still helping dogs! We will never forget such a special human being!
