Dear Gymnasts, former gymnasts, coaches, gymnastics parents and fans of gymnastics!
This Giving Tuesday, November 28, 2017, I am reaching out to those who understand what we do the most.
Since 1996 the Wendy Hilliard Gymnastics Foundation “WHGF” has provided free and low cost gymnastics to over 17,000 urban youth in Harlem. Last year we expanded to Detroit, my hometown.
We have community gymnastics classes and competitive teams in girls artistic, rhythmic gymnastics and tumbling and trampoline (boys and girls). Our team members compete locally, across the country and attend gymnastics camp. We have produced national competitors and national team members. Most importantly we provide great gymnastics for many kids who would not otherwise be able to participate in this wonderful sport and call themselves a gymnast!
I chose Giving Tuesday- because I really wanted to connect with gymnasts on this day. As you know - gymnastics is super great but the more time and work it takes the more money is needed to achieve those efforts.
The children we serve love gymnastics- but most do not have the resources to support the cost of this sport. Training fees, meets fees, travel, hotel, summer camps, uniforms, equipment, coaches fess and the list goes on and on.
What the WHGF does is raise money to take care of these cost. We work very hard at this and thank all the champion gymnasts, athletes, coaches, gymnastics suppliers, foundations, corporations, partners and individuals that have been so generous. Yet we need more.
We need you - because you know best what a difference gymnastics can make.
All donations for WHGF Giving Tuesday will go directly to our gymnastics programs, scholarships and competitive teams.
