We moved to San Juan five months ago with our son, dog, and two cats, excited to make Puerto Rico our home. With the love and support of our family and friends here, we were ready to begin a new phase of our lives. But sadly, the island we all know and love is now in the fight for its very existence and so many of its people are fighting for their survival. As many of you know, Hurricane Maria has devastated Puerto Rico, leaving many without the basic necessities like clean water, food, fuel, power, medicine, a home. The aftermath of the storm is a humanitarian crisis that is worsening as the days go by. We were very lucky. Our apartment, while damaged is still habitable and thanks to the generator, we have a few hours of power a day. But for others, luck has been in short supply. So along with the group of dedicated warriors of the Puerto Rico Rebuild and Relief Fund set out to do what we can to help those in need. And the need is so great.
Right now, that help consists of water filters, food, cash for fuel and other supplies. We will soon be able to provide 1st aid kits, solar powered lights, chargers, and radios. We hope to eventually expand to providing generators and satellite phones. We are committed to doing what needs to be done and appreciate your help in doing it. Whatever you can give will be put to great and urgent use. No amount is too small. Anything and everything helps. It’s all hands on deck. Puerto Rico needs you. Thank you.Much love to you all,Sarah and Steve Soto
