This fundraiser is run by Vernon's wife Allison. Donations can also be made directly at SansOxygen.com/Donate. They all go directly to the family.
On August 24, 2016 Vernon Adams passed away from injuries sustained in a scooter accident in May of 2014.
Many of you know Vernon Adams through his family and friends. But many more of you know Vernon through his prolific typography.
Vernon created some of the most popular fonts in the Google Font project, such as Oswald, Oxygen and Pacifico. Or his work on open source software such as FontForge, Metapolator, and the Open Font Library.
Vernon believed in making his fonts available to the largest possible audience and as a result he was paid to create them, but then they were given away royalty free. As you can imagine, this is great for a working type designer but with his sudden passing there was no stream of income for his family of three.
There are no legal settlements and no life insurance payoff.
If you are a friend of the family I would like to ask you to think about his family and consider making a donation.
If you are an individual or a company that uses or has used any of his fonts, or you just respect his body of work and his ideal, please consider helping his family.
Anything helps. His wife Allison has a 6 year old girl and a 14 year old boy to raise.
Thanks for making giving a priority. This is a very tangible way to help a deserving family.
