The Story

***** The Pay Pal account is under Michael Hernandez, but I guarantee that I will receive the donation. Ever since the disappearance of my mother nothing has been the same. My family had financial problems and we had already moved houses due to foreclosure. My step father has tried his best. After December 14, 2012, we lost what kept our family together. I have four siblings; one boy and three girls. I had to take the position of my mother and do what I could, but I know I will never be able to take the space in their hearts that was only hers. We all miss her and all I can do to help is continue my education so that in the future I can help my family out to the best of my ability.

I graduated this year on June 6 from Moises E. Molina High School in Dallas. I was ranked number 4 out off approximately 450 students. I tried my best to keep my mind straight even when the person I loved the most was not by my side. I have been accepted to Texas A&M University at College Station and I plan on majoring in Genetics. After college, I want to go to Medical school and pursue a career in becoming an Oncologist. To my knowledge, my family does not have a history of cancer, but I would love to make my future patients smile and have the opportunity to give them a chance to live life without cancer on their backs. I have many reasons to strive for. I want to help not only myself and my family, but anyone who may need my help. I have received a total of about 12000 dollars in grants and scholarships, but it doesn't cover my cost of attendence, including tuition, fees, room and board, and books.

I have applied to most scholarships that are available to me. I am undocumented and many scholarships require students to be citizens or legal residents. I have been in the U.S since I was three years old. I have yet to hear from the scholarships I have turned in. My last option after this fundraiser would be to take out a bank loan and somehow find a willing co-signer. My step father has many other problems to take care off. He also has to take proper care of my siblings. He is unable to provide for my education. I would love to work in order to save money, but that is prohibited by my unlawful status. I currently am also trying to fix my immigrant status and this comes with other financial problems, but that's another story.

Due to what has happened in the past months toward the end of my senior year I was put under the Mckinney- Vento Act by my school. My biological father lives in Mexico and I do not have frequent contact with him. He also has a family in Mexico which he has to take care of.

I am asking for someone, anyone to help provide me the money to go to college at least for the first year. Hopefully by then I will be able to work and start applying for many other scholarships. I am a promising student and I know I will help many others in the future and achieve my goals. Please take the consideration of investing in my education. It would truly be a dream come true.
