In February of 2013 I was one of 7 official finishers of the Winter Death Race and raised $700 for SWSF. The Summer event is much harder and I want to raise the bar for fundraising significantly.
Last Summer I left the Death Race at thirty-something hours due to an injury, so this year is for retribution in part but also in an attempt to raise significant funds for the SWSF.
The event itself is expected to be of the order of 60-70 hours of torture in the hills of Vermont at the hands of Peak Races.
The Silent Warrior Scholarship Fund (SWSF) was set up by Reconnaissance Marines in memory of their fallen brothers.
The Silent Warrior Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to any college-bound person based on direct familial relationship to a Reconnaissance Marine or MARSOC Marine, academic achievement, and financial need.
Note that while often SWSF sponsored athletes may have their race fees paid by donations, I am covering the cost of these myself and therefore 100% of all donations will go to the SWSF.
