On April 30, 2014 Sgt Steven A Sulborsky succumbed to an unexpected and untimely illness. We are collecting donations to help support the children of Steve. He left behind a wife and 2 young boys.
Steve was a kind and caring individual who put his family second to none. He was a beloved police officer and always put others before himself. In his honor, the Ridgefield Park Police Department and PBA Local #86 are committed to fulfilling all the hopes and dreams that Steve had for his young boys.
Steve grew up in Bogota and graduated from Bogota High School in 1990. He went on to Rutgers University and later obtained a master’s degree from Seton Hall University. After working for the Tenafly and Cresskill police departments, he was hired by the police department in Ridgefield Park in 1998.
In 2010, Steve became a detective, and in 2011, he was named a sergeant in the patrol division. During his tenure, he served as a member of the department’s ceremonial honor guard and two countywide rapid-deployment squads.
He also was an instructor on firearms and other weapons, and he had served as president of the Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 86. He received multiple service awards and two letters of commendation.
While we continue to mourn his untimely passing we must move forward and continue to care for his family as Steve would!
