Thank you all again for your generous support. School has started and I have already completed my Neonatal Resuscitation Program and am working my way through my first course on the History of Midwifery. Your continued support is appreciated as there are always books to buy for classes, additional fees for clinical experience and educational support, and supplies that need to be purchased and used during my apprenticeship. The education component will take place primarily on island as an apprentice with Sybille and through the courses I am taking through the National College of Midwifery. I will have to travel in the future to a high volume center to futher my experience. It will take about 3 years to complete this work. I look forward to sharing my skills and knowledge with island families.

Thank you all for your generosity and support! I was hard for me to even consent to having Caillean put this information out there. It was an act of complete thoughtfulness on my daughter's part and I am grateful beyond words to her. I also would not have been able to pursue this avenue if it weren't for the support and teachings of local practicing midwife Sybille Andersen. Sybille is an experienced midwife able to offer women on Nantucket safe and peaceful home births with her knowledge, skill, and support. She has agreed to stand by me for the next two-three years and hold me accountable to educational standards while also sharing her knowledge and experiences with me. Together we will work with women on island to provide holisitic midwifery services.
Thank you to each and everyone one of you who has contributed, shared, or liked my facebook posts. Your support means the world to me and my family. I look forward to serving my island community and continuing to offer a variety of options for giving birth mindfully on Nantucket.

Posted on August 15, 2013Hello folks! I am so happy that so many of my friends and doula clients have pitched it and are making this dream come true. I am grateful and humbled by your support. Friends I haven't seen in 15 years, former clients, kind acquaintances, and local supporters all have been so generous. I can't thank you enough. I am working on all the paperwork associated with starting school and am beyond excited to be starting this chapter of my life. THANK YOU ALL for your generosity. I can't really find the words to express my gratitude.
Also, a big shout out to my daughter Caillean who took it upon herself to do this. She never stops amazing me and really, she is the reason I am on this journey. Without the empowering home birth of her, life would have looked very different and not so vibrant. Thank you for not only being my daughter but also my teacher.
