On May 22, 2013 heaven received a mischievous angel with the most infectious laugh. As hard as she fought, her body just couldn't keep up with the Pancreatic Cancer that had invaded her. It might have taken her physical body but it could never take her beautiful spirit. Dana (Welch) Crawford left this world way too soon but she will never leave our hearts. Anyone that met her fell in love with her; there was no way to avoid it. She is up in heaven right now making God laugh with her silly faces and one liners.
Dana’s world was her family and she let us know every day how much she loved us. She and her husband Scott had the most amazing relationship. He knew her better than anyone, how could he not, they had been together since they were 16. Scott’s love and devotion to Dana was the most amazing thing to witness. We saw every day that there was nothing he would not do for her. They had a love for one another that was incomparable and I swear they could read each other’s minds. You knew to never play Taboo with them because you were going to lose.
They were blessed with the most charismatic little 4 year old named Liam. He has the best of both Scott & Dana. He is a Minni Me of Scott and has Dana’s sense of humor and mannerisms. He loves his Mommy so much and we are going to make sure every day that he knows how much she loved him. He is an artist just like his mom and it is apparent if you saw his room decorated with his daily art projects. One of his favorite things to do was to sit in bed with his mommy and draw. Liam loves his MeMe (Phyllis Welch) and Mimaw and Pawpaw (Annis & Patrick Crawford), bugs, match box cars, reading, playing monster pillow with his dad and picking flowers for his mommy. He loves rainbows and from now on every time we see a rainbow in the sky, we will know it was put there by Dana for Liam.
So many people have reached out wanting to do something for Liam and Scott, so we decided to set up this legacy fund for Liam. Dana will be so touched and honored that so many people want to help her family after she has gone. This is a wonderful testament of how truly loved Dana was and how many people she touched throughout her life.
