Emily Murray was awarded the BATC Foundation Scholarship in December, 2015. Emily enrolled in the Business Technology Program in September, 2015. The people who recommended her noted her determination and perseverance in reaching her education and professional goals. Her excellent dependability and 100 per cent attendance was also noted. Her ultimate goal is to become a teacher and teach business and/or science and math at the junior or senior high school level.
She is succeeding in spite of many obstacles. Emily has four children whom she is raising alone. Three are in school and one is in daycare. She works part time (due to attending school). She faces many financial and time constraints, but has remained involved in their education as a volunteer in the Box Elder County schools when she can. She receives child support but it is inconsistent and unreliable. She also faces some health constraints.
One recommendation stated “…it is incredible to watch her strive with perseverance and determination to reach her goals.” The BATC Foundation Board wish her well and look forward to meeting her and hearing about her progress at the May, 2016 meeting.

Having watched health professionals help my family members, I decided that working in the medical field would be rewarding. Here at BATC I have completed the Certified Nursing Assistant course and Phlebotomy. I am now in the Medical Assisting Program. I am also working part time as a CNA for a home health & hospice agency. I am doing well in school and am ahead of schedule. My experiences at BATC have been excellent and I want to complete my course.
My financial situation is unique as my recent marriage has made me ineligible for federal assistance received in the past. Dishonesty of an ex-spouse added to my financial distress. This scholarship would be a great blessing, giving much needed assistance as I complete this portion of my schooling.
