On March 12, 2017 I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who arrived 11 weeks early. She was born at 29 weeks gestation and has been in the NICU for over 9 weeks now. During my pregnancy I was on strict bed rest for 10 weeks, up until delivery. I was told many times we were going to lose her, and my health declined. I had my gallbladder removed at 24 weeks and went into liver failure after surgery. During one of the MRI's they found that I have a tumor on my adrenal gland as well.
I have been unable to work since December 2016, which took a toll on our finances. My husband has been working hard to try and pick up the slack without having my income anymore. He was doing a great job, but we just recently got the news that he has been laid off from his job for an undeterminable amount of time. His job does not pay into unemployment and the benefits that are available to be paid out to him only total 1/4 of his normal income, and if you work another job to supplement that income, you then do not qualify for any of the benefits. Our daughter's medical bills are quickly climbing and are currently totaling over $300,000 after 66 days in the NICU, and there is no word of a release date yet as she is still struggling with some challenges. We have applied for Medicaid for her, but are told that the paperwork is backed up for many months.
As we struggle to make ends meet, we have no where to turn to. Any amount, big or small would be a huge help to us! Thanks for taking the time to read.
