Please support the Trinity High School GAP Club’s annual Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser/Adoption event on April 22nd benefitting the homeless dogs and cats from the Euless Animal Shelter! The Trinity GAP Club/Rescue is hoping to raise $15,000 to help the Euless shelter pets in need of continuous vet care and boarding!
Many of the pets that come into the shelter have major or minor injuries/illnesses that require vet care to help them heal, become well, and more easily adoptable. There are no provisions for dogs and cats who come into the shelter sick or injured. All vet care is provided thru recycled adoption fees and thru donations to Trinity GAP. Adoption fees don’t even cover the basics of spay/neuter/vaccinations but we strive to keep adoption fees low to be competitive in helping these pets find homes. Medical needs for these shelter pets is ongoing and without these vet services many pets have little chance of being adopted. We understand how hard it is for families to incur the expenses to adopt pets with major illnesses or injuries. If we can make these pets whole again, and help them find good homes, our mission is accomplished. In 2016, Trinity GAP assisted over 340 dogs and cats from the Euless Animal Shelter in finding homes! GAP has helped lower the dog euthanasia rate at the shelter by 90%! The cat stats have improved too. Through donations, Trinity GAP also provides boarding to save the lives of pets when the shelter is full. The Euless Animal Shelter is a small municipal shelter and when there is no more room, there is no more room—and pets must be relocated to save their lives. Many pets have to be boarded not only for overcrowding in the shelter, but for behavioral training and some for recuperation from illness or injuries. Our foster homes are often full so boarding becomes our only option. We don’t pick and choose to save only the cute furry highly-adoptable pets. We work hard to save them all! But we can’t do it without your support!! We are very proud of our partnership with the Euless Shelter staff, Larry, JoDan and Jared who work hand in paw with us to save so many dogs and cats!!
GAP never hesitates to help pets like Astro, who was diagnosed with Megaesophagus, a condition where there is decreased or absent motility of the esophagus which hinders the ability to pass food to the stomach triggering regurgitation back into the throat. GAP purchased a special feeding chair for him to help him with this digestive issue.: Mr. Magoo had an injured eye removed; CiCi was dumped at an emergency vet clinic with a broken leg; McIlroy, a senior pup has been in boarding for weeks at the vet with a horrible skin condition…..Lola the Boxer came into the shelter as a severely emaciated starved stray. Lola, an 8 month old German Shepherd, came to GAP so emaciated she was unable walk due to an undiagnosed medical problem. And there have been so many cases of parvo, heartworms, etc. The cats have had their share of woes too: Rone, a beautiful black goddess had to have her tail amputated. GAP cat fosters have tirelessly bottle fed abandoned weeks old kittens, nursed kitties back to health from recurring cycles of ringworms, coccidian and hosts of other illnesses.
