The Story

Please support the Trinity High School GAP Club’s annual Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser/Adoption event on April 28th benefitting the homeless dogs and cats from the Euless Animal Shelter!   The Trinity GAP Club/Rescue is hoping to raise $15,000 to help the Euless shelter pets in need of continuous vet care and boarding!  This event is sponsored by Super Value Pharmacy in Euless!!  Also, Great Dane Rescue of North Texas will be onsite providing $20 microchipping!!  New this year is a Garage Sale!!  There will also be raffles and a bake sale!!  It’s a great even for the whole family---friendly leashed dogs welcome to attend!!!

Many of the pets that come into the shelter have major or minor injuries/illnesses that require vet care to help them heal, become well, and more easily adoptable. There are no provisions for dogs and cats who come into the shelter sick or injured.  All vet care is provided thru recycled adoption fees and thru donations to Trinity GAP.   Adoption fees don’t even cover the basics of spay/neuter/vaccinations but we strive to keep adoption fees low to be competitive in helping these pets find homes.  Medical needs for these shelter pets is ongoing and without these vet services many pets have little chance of being adopted.   We understand how hard it is for families to incur the expenses to adopt pets with major illnesses or injuries.  If we can make these pets whole again, and help them find good homes, our mission is accomplished.  GAP has helped lower the dog euthanasia rate at the shelter by 90%!   The cat stats have improved too.  Through donations, Trinity GAP also provides boarding to save the lives of pets when the shelter is full.  The Euless Animal Shelter is a small municipal shelter and when there is no more room, there is no more room—and pets must be relocated to save their lives. Many pets have to be boarded not only for overcrowding in the shelter, but for behavioral training and some for recuperation from illness or injuries.  Our foster homes are often full so boarding becomes our only option.  We don’t pick and choose to save only the cute furry highly-adoptable pets. We work hard to save them all!  But we can’t do it without your support!!   We are very proud of our partnership with the Euless Shelter staff, Larry, JoDan and Jared who work hand in paw with us to save so many dogs and cats!!

Please consider a donation to GAP and please join us for the Walk-a-Thon on April 28th from 10 am until 12 Noon on the Track at Trinity High School, 500 N. Industrial Blvd., Euless, TX.  New this year is a Garage Sale!!

GAP Website:

Trinity GAP Rescue (TGR), founded in 2012, evolved to support The Trinity GAP Club (Girls Awareness Program), founded in 2003, as a girls club at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas.  The mission of the Trinity GAP Club is to give these high school girls a positive outlet for their time and show them positive alternatives for their lives. Their community service project is volunteering with the Euless Animal Shelter and sponsoring as many animals as funds allow to provide spay/neuter, shots, and other vetting costs for the pets. Since a high school club has limitations as to the support they can provide the Euless Animal Shelter, TGR was formed as a 501c3 charitable organization to support the GAP Club and provide services beyond their capabilities. TGR and the GAP Club meet at the Euless Shelter once a week to interact with the pets and obtain information and pictures for networking sites to help these pets find homes.   Adoption fees for these shelter pets recycle back into the program to continue vet funding for all shelter pets.  Adoption fees do not even cover basic vet services, and there are always unforeseen medical expenses, so TGR and the GAP Club host adoption events and fund-raisers such as sales of baked goods, tamales, candy and candles and also host 2 large annual events on campus, a Pet Fair and a Walk-a-Thon.  All funds collected by The GAP Club and TGR sponsor vetting and/or boarding for homeless pets. There are no funds for pets who come into the shelter sick or wounded.  All vet fees are paid through donations to TGR and the GAP Club.  TGR and The GAP Club work hard to raise funds to keep adoption fees low and competitive to help these pets find homes quickly since this is a municipal shelter with limited space.  The Trinity GAP Club and TGR have made a huge impact in lowering the euthanasia rate of the Euless Animal Shelter by more than 80%.  This percentage is misleading as it includes all pets, both adoptable and unadoptable. In the past few years, no adoptable pet has been euthanized. The Trinity GAP Club has won many local and state awards including “The 2009 Youth Volunteer of the Year”.  Trinity GAP Rescue is proud to partner with the Trinity GAP Club!

Fundraiser Updates

Thanks to all who have donated for Ace—and all of our pets!!  Just wanted to let you know that Ace had his surgery on Thursday and he is back with his foster mom and doing well.  Janay sent this update and a brief history in case you missed his story—he’s only one of many reasons Why We Walk—hope you will all join us on the track at Trinity High School on April 28th:   Ace was rescued by GAP with what we thought was an ear infection. It turns out his ear was injured months earlier and it became infected and was left treated for so long that his entire ear canal became swollen and it calcified like that leaving him with permanent damage. Despite treatments his ear only got worse so we have been fundraising for him to have his ear surgically fixed. His ear started to get worse really fast and our only option was to get him in surgery asap so on Thursday 4/5 he went to the surgery specialists at the Dallas surgery Center and he had a complete ear canal ablation. Surgery went very well and he is healing in his foster home. It costs GAP over 2000 dollars for this surgery but we saved Ace from a life of infection and pain!!! He might have a silly looking ear but he will be a happy, healthy dog!! Please help us pay off his surgery so we can continue to help dogs like Ace!!!

Posting some pix in the gallery of Ace post-surgery!
